Game of Thrones Star Iwan Rheon Returns to Music After a Decade Away

Game of Thrones

Iwan Rheon is best known for his role as Ramsay Bolton in Game of Thrones, where his performance as one of the series’ most despicable characters was lauded by fans and critics. However, the Welsh actor is also a musician, and he has released two albums since he joined the HBO fantasy series.
The latest album, I Just Wish I’d Never Gone to Space, was recently released on streaming platforms, and it shows an intriguingly different side to the star.

Rheon’s First Album Arrived During His Game of Thrones Rise

Rheon has always enjoyed playing music alongside his acting career, and released his first album, Dinard, in 2015. At the time, he was already a rising star thanks to his role in Misfits, and his early performances in Game of Thrones helped him attract much more attention. This helped Rheon show people that he had a gentler side, far removed from his sadistic screen persona.

For people who enjoyed Rheon’s first release, it was a long wait before his second album hit the market. That may be because he became a bigger part of Game of Thrones, and also landed many more film and television roles because of that. He’s back with 12 new tracks now, though, and for anyone who wants to experience a whole new side of the actor, his music is worth checking out.

Still Best Known as Ramsay Bolton

As often happens in the world of acting, Rheon has found it hard to shake his association with his Game of Thrones character in the years since the series ended. Ramsay Bolton was one of the most despised and evil characters in the whole series, but viewers also loved watching his scenes because Rheon played him so perfectly. He was one of the standout performers in a cast that was filled with some of the world’s best talent, which is quite an achievement.

Another reason why Rheon can’t cut ties with his character so easily is the fact that Game of Thrones still lives on in mainstream culture. Despite finishing in 2019, there are still various related offerings, such as the Game of Thrones and Game of Thrones Jackpot King online slots. There are also the two spinoffs, House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which keep Westeros alive. Rheon could easily use his Game of Thrones fame to promote his music, but it seems he wants to separate this work from his acting career.

Rheon isn’t the only Game of Thrones actor who has ventured into music. Hodor actor Kristian Nairn is the complete opposite of his dim-witted character in real life, and has built a thriving career as a global DJ. Jacob Anderson, who played Grey Worm, is another musician, and goes by the name of Raleigh Ritchie when releasing tracks.

Rheon’s busy acting commitments may have kept him away from music for a while, but now he’s back fulfilling one of his main passions. Hopefully, this new album will lead to many more from the 41-year-old.
