‘Silver Dust’ is the debut single from Glasgow’s elara caluna – comprising songwriters Benedict Salter and Kitty Hall. The single is released on 18th December on 7’’ Vinyl, with etched artwork, and is limited to 250 copies.
elara caluna (the name loosely translates from Gaelic as ‘the purple heather of Jupiter’s moon’) call their sound ‘nightsong’ – mixing gothic, baroque and folk influences with electronically generated atmosphere. As shown in their self-made music video for ‘Silver Dust’, this sound was born and is rooted in their environment in Glasgow.
The band evolved with Glasgow artist Jim Lambie’s Poetry Club as their base; using the venue as a rehearsal space, playing there regularly and hosting their own monthly mixed arts club night PARAPHERNALIA.
‘Silver Dust’ is also the first release on a newly established label by Lambie called VoidoidARCHIVE records. Release #2 on this label is two spoken word pieces by Sue Tompkins (formerly of Life Without Buildings) ‘RAID’ b/w ‘TURNOVER’.
Both artists perform at the next PARAPHERNALIA event at The Poetry Club, on Friday 18th December.
