VIDEO PREMIERE: Rita Braga - Pussycat

Today XS Noize is pleased to premiere the video for Pussycat from Rita Braga. Pussycat is taken from her new album Time Warp Blues. Time Warp Blues is the 3rd album by the Portuguese experimental songwriter, co-produced with Andrea Rocca in London. Release date 20.11.2020 (limited vinyl edition).

Braga’s eerie pop compositions have been compared to the likes of The Space Lady, Silver Apples or Bruce Haack, alongside distinct influences including jazz from the 20s and 30s or post-punk groups like The Raincoats.

Drawing inspiration from classic film, cabaret, pop and punk/new wave, Braga writes and performs songs in multiple languages (here in English, Portuguese, Finnish and Japanese), singing over her vintage keyboards, drum machines, and a ukulele or banjolele. Time Warp Blues is a journey towards a vortex of ghosts and time travels, evoking different time periods in recent history and reminding us of our dystopian times. The phantom in the lead single Tremble Like a Ghost suggests that we’re still living in 1984.

Over the last decade, she has toured all across Europe, the US, Brazil, Australia and Japan. Her previous album Bird on the Moon was listed as one of the “Top 15 ukulele albums” by The Wire magazine. Past collaborations include work with Ian Svenonius, Mary Ocher, The Legendary Tigerman, Dorit Chrysler, Felix Kubin and more.
