TRACK PREMIERE: Tired Kid - Make Time

Tired Kid is the moniker for Thomas Kelly, a musician/composer based in Toronto. Thomas tries to create music with a vintage warmth and psychedelic nature. Inspired by bands from all eras of time, he picks out elements from each like a florist picking out flowers to create a bouquet of sound for eager ears to listen upon. Pure familiarity, pure nostalgia.

The new single, “Make Time,” takes an autobiographical look at Tired Kid’s day-to-day life; some of it mundane but relatable, ultimately attached with a bit of happiness. This is the first single taken from his upcoming record, I Like My Own Company, which will be released on October 9th.

Exploring the routine of the day-to-day through the song’s lyrics let me add a bit of happiness to the mundane, with guitar inspired by Pavement. It is a simple yet hopeful tune that talks about work and what I normally like to do on my days off. I’d love for “Make Time” to get stuck in your head and feel familiar to you as you listen. Despite these hard times, this song captures a happy optimism – along with a twinge of sadness – that is meant to uplift you.
