XS Noize is pleased to premiere “Anymore” from New Jersey singer-songwriter Colton Kayser. Colton grew up daydreaming in class and writing songs by the binder. As he grew, so did his work ethic, and he has been quietly chipping away and perfecting his craft ever since. Two records, cross country touring, and countless gigs later, Kayser is set to release a collection of singles in 2019.
“Anymore” is Kayser’s third single so far this year and follows his acclaimed LP, Place to Settle, which was hailed by The Bluegrass Situation, The Boot and American Songwriter.
Quote from Colton Kayser: “‘Anymore’ is about a failing relationship and the emotions you go through at the tail end of it. The concept of having to let go of someone, even if you don’t necessarily want to, was something I was thinking about a lot at the time.
This song has a lot of mileage. I wrote the intro riff to ‘Anymore’ at 2 in the morning in North Carolina while on tour. I wrote the verse and chorus in Jersey. And, I wrote the bridge at an Airbnb in Nashville.
The chorus lyrics started out as, ‘you don’t love me anymore,’ and evolved into ‘I won’t love you anymore.’ There’s a lot more power in switching roles and telling someone whether or not they can be in your life.”
