Fast-rising Manchester alt-rockers Elephant Trees return today with their new single Uncomfortable via HA! Music. With their recent single Open Up picking up support from Alt Press, Upset Magazine and Spotify, Uncomfortable explore the more unpredictable edges of their sound without losing their pop sensibilities.
“It’s confused and messy in parts, and that’s intentional, it represents my brain” says frontwoman Martha Philips of the new single. “I’m writing a lot about mental health, especially in music. Over the past year we’ve seen so many suicides and overdoses, there is a clear need to talk about mental health and the loneliness. People our age have our phones stuck in our hands and are lost in these worlds of false stories and opinions, screaming at us about who we are meant to be – there is a disparity between us and the older generations, who lived in ‘simpler’ times. They don’t understand the stress and sadness in our way of living. ‘Uncomfortable’ is all about expressing that feeling and rising up to not feel so powerless anymore.”
