SHED SEVEN land their first #1 album with ‘A Matter of Time’

Shed Seven

Some things are only ‘A Matter of Time’. In 2003, Shed Seven split up after a decade of success – and in most cases, that would’ve been the end of the story. But after receiving a huge reaction to their 2007 reunion tour and returning to the Top 10 with 2017’s ‘Instant Pleasures’, they set about writing arguably the strongest album of their career with ‘A Matter of Time’. That journey and dedication have been rewarded as ‘A Matter of Time’ has gone straight to #1 – their first ever chart-topping album in their 30th anniversary year.

Not only did ‘A Matter of Time’ top the charts, but it did so in style. It sold 70% more copies than its nearest challenger, and a huge pre-order campaign ensured that it sold more physical copies than the rest of the Top 10 combined. The album was also a triumph for the band’s label, Cooking Vinyl, which started 2024 with a #1 smash and is the only independent label represented in this week’s Top 10.

Shed Seven’s 30th anniversary and chart-topping celebrations will continue when they play ‘A Matter of Time’ in full during three album release shows this month. This summer, they will celebrate their 30th anniversary by playing two homecoming shows at the Museum Gardens in York, both of which rapidly sold out and feature special guest Peter Doherty, who features on the album’s closing song ‘Throwaways’. Expect more anniversary plans to be revealed instantly.
