ON THE TURNTABLE: Liam Frost & The Slowdown Family - Show Me How The Spectres Dance

Short, sharp and frank reviews from a confessed vinyl junkie. I’ll be posting my most loved records and most recent purchases right here for your perusal every week.

Reissue of the underrated classic debut album from Liam Frost (and his Slowdown Family). I’ve always found it quite astonishing that Liam didn’t become a household name after this album was originally released back in 2006.

Perhaps it was something to do with my own life at the time but every song resonated with me back then and listening back they still do, it’s a heart-wrenchingly sad album in parts but stunningly beautiful. Folk songs with huge choruses, that demand to be heard, if Manchester could put down its bucket hat past for two minutes we’d realise this city of ours has a lot more to give, this is one of our hidden gems.
