Jagwar Ma - Announce new single ‘O B 1’ Watch video HERE

Jagwar Ma return with new single ‘O B 1’. Premiered last night (July 14th) by Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1, the track is the first taster from the group’s second album titled Every Now & Then, which will be released this Autumn on Marathon Artists / Mom + Pop / Future Classic.

The single arrives with an accompanying video, pieced together by the band’s Jono Ma and featuring visuals from Hans Lo, responsible for their kaleidoscopic stage visuals. Filmed in Australia, Europe and the US, it channels the band’s journey over the past couple of years, performing and recording around the world, including their recent tour dates with Tame Impala.

’O B 1’ was produced by Jono Ma from the band. Long term studio collaborator Ewan Pearson mixed the single, and Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint) and wizard James Ford lent their ears and sticks to the drums. Singer Gabriel Winterfeld and Jono wrote the single together. Jono says: “After saving all my pennies to get my hands on an old Oberheim synthesizer, the very first sequence I programmed on it became the vertebrae for O B 1. Designed for nocturnal road trips and foraging through forests for morning fresh champignons.” The song, adds Gab, is “about moving through the motions of life under the influence of lost love, the fear of letting go of the past when not having anything set in place in the future to hold on to”

Jagwar Ma, the duo of multi-instrumentalist and producer Jono Ma, singer and guitarist Gabriel Winterfield, with the addition of live bass player Jack Freeman, released their debut album in 2013 to critical praise and inclusion in end of year lists by NME, Q, Pitchfork and MOJO among many others, alongside becoming a favourite of fellow artists including The xx and Foals, who they have also toured with.

Earning a reputation for their explosive, hypnotic live performances, which bring together exploratory electronics with raw live dynamics and immersive visuals, the band were invited to support Tame Impala on their arena tour of the UK and Europe in early 2016, followed by sold out UK headline tour of their own with the recent London date at Village Underground described by The Independent as “a psychedelic sunshine trip”. They’ve continued to cement themselves as tent-filling favourites on the festival circuit, having played everywhere from Coachella to Japan’s Summer Sonic and Australia’s Splendour In The Grass, and most recently a triumphant set at the Park Stage in Glastonbury.

Their forthcoming UK, European and US festival and headline tour dates present an opportunity to experience new songs from the forthcoming album firsthand, with more details to follow soon.

‘Every Now & Then’ will be released Autumn 2016 on Marathon Artists / Mom + Pop / Future Classic.
