Slowly but surely, 2016 is becoming the year of Car Seat Headrest.
Seattle native Will Toledo’s latest album (and first full-band album for Matador), “Teens of Denial” is becoming a crossover sensation – the kind of feverishly lauded record that is getting everyone from Pitchfork and Stereogum to Guardian and Time Out excited. Then there’s the fact that he’s played every summer festival worth its salt this year, from Glastonbury to Primavera and beyond, while simultaneously selling out his own headline shows across UK and Europe.
To reiterate just how much of a force of nature Car Seat Headrest have become, today Spotify are releasing an EP of sessions recorded live at their sessions at SXSW. Rough, raw, rattling and ready, these revved up versions of live favourites are a potent reminder of just why the band have so rapidly ascended the indie ranks to become one of the most acclaimed new acts of the year.
