‘Wiseblood’ is the debut track from Racetrack Gospel, the new project from Sam Herlihy, former lead singer and songwriter with Hope Of The States. The song premiered on Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6 Music show yesterday afternoon and is now available to HEAR BELOW. The track is taken from the quartet’s four track debut EP of the same name which will be released on the 20th July 2015.
The EP was recorded with Ken Thomas & Jolyon Vaughn Thomas (Sigur Ros, Daughter, Slaves) in Surrey. Having produced the two Hope Of The States albums (’The Lost Riots’ & ‘Left’) in 2004 & 2006, Ken contacted Sam out of the blue in 2014 keen to hear new material and record again. After a short phone conversation Racetrack Gospel was born.
The ‘Wiseblood EP’ will precede the release of Sam’s first book ‘Black Dollar Bills’, a musical autobiography charting his time in Hope of the States. A dark, unrestrained insight into the black beating heart of the UK music industry, it’s a terrifyingly-brilliant read. More information coming soon.
