KLANGKARUSSELL RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM ‘NETZWERK’

KLANGKARUSSELL RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM 'NETZWERK'

Klangkarussell, aka Adrian Held and Tobias Rieser, will release their stunning debut album on August 4th 2014 through Island Dance. Entitled ‘Netzwerk’, it’s a serious contender for the crossover dance album of the year.

Eleven tracks, ranging from the sun-kissed, radio friendly superhits-in-the-making ‘Symmetry’ and ‘We Want Your Soul’, to tracks like ‘Berlin’ and ‘Sternenkinder’ that are reminiscent of the best of Stimming and Gui Borrato, it’s shot through with the unique, euphoric-yet-melancholic qualities that made ‘Sonnentanz’ such a smash.

Forthcoming single and live show highlight ‘Netzwerk (Falls Like Rain)’ is due for release 20th July and is already picking up key radio play. The death-defying video features the Ukrainian free climber Mustang Wanted who featured in the controversial C4 documentary ‘Don’t Look Down’. WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW:

A close listen to the album hints at the pair’s influences: the carefully constructed beats that hark back to Adrian’s drum‘n’bass background in their flawless execution (though not their tempo); the anthemic qualities of the Kalkbrenners (and even Austrian pop icon Falco), and the restless innovation of dance music’s lateral thinkers like Jamie xx and Flying Lotus. If there’s one album this year that can bring together lovers of 2014’s warehouse style deep house, chilled out electronica and perfectly crafted pop songwriting, ‘Netzwerk’ is it. Tracklisting is as follows:

1. Eistee
2. Netzwerk (Falls Like Rain)
3. Berlin
4. We Want Your Soul (featuring Adam Freeland)
5. Sonnentanz (Sun Don’t Shine) (featuring Will Heard)
6. Symmetry
7. Celebrate
8. Sternenkinder
9. Moments (featuring Will Heard)
10. All Eyes On You
11. Sonnentanz (Bonus Track)

The young Austrians made their name with their debut single ‘Sonnentanz’ (the vocal version of the track, ‘Sun Don’t Shine’ feat. Will Heard, a massive global hit that has had over 30 million YouTube hits and sold over 1.3 million copies to date.

It was the third tune the pair made together, created in a single and added to their Soundcloud without fanfare. It sat there for six months until an anonymous YouTube account holder uploaded it to the site in (with the random, if perfect, image of a woman in tai chi pose, silhouetted against a sunset) and ’Sonnentanz’ took off. Melodic yet driving, melancholic yet optimistic, hypnotic yet danceable, it’s a piece of utterly contemporary electronica – and a six-minute testament to the power of a great tune in the digital age.

In parallel with the development of the album, Klangkarussell have evolved as a live force. Early, nerve wracking DJ shows at Belgium’s Pukkelpop and the Love Parade in Switzerland hinted at their power to move vast crowds. Now the addition of a guitarist and live drummer the Klangkarussell live experience, having blown away sell-out crowds with UK club baptisms at London’s XOYO and Cargo, is set to make a huge impact on festival season 2014. Lovebox, Pukkelpop, Germany’s Sputnik and Zurich Openair are already lined up for the summer.
