Dream rock four-piece junodream announce the news of their debut album Pools Of Colour, out on 26th January 2024 via AWAL. The announcement also comes alongside the captivating new single ‘Death Drive’ and multihued video.
Lined ten tracks deep, the band’s debut album Pools of Colour is about coming to terms with insignificance. The deeply immersive dream-rock LP asks important questions, delving into the more insidious and disconnected parts of modernity and the human condition, presenting a band more interested in a cohesive, egoless whole than the perspective of four separate members. In sacrificing the desires of the self, they say, your creative collaboration becomes more fruitful and the world around you more colourful.
Following on from the recent single ‘The Beach‘, ‘Death Drive’, with its breezy atmospherics, compelling acoustic riff and driving drums is a critique of the self-destructive stupidity of humankind and the warmongers that create tragedy. Explaining his inspiration for the track, singer Ed Vyvyan comments:
“When you get a bit existential about it all, some aspects of human behaviour on a macro-level are completely absurd. We’re on a blue dot hurtling through space. It’s a miracle we’re here and yet we have power hungry tyrants pushing us to extinction from their own toxic personal agendas. We’re done with it.”
Speaking on the video for ‘Death Drive’, the band say:
“The Death Drive music video is an end-of-the-world anti-dance. We wanted to capture the energy of the track, thrown in with the album colours, but make it all unhinged and full of expression.”
