‘Ganki’ is the excellent new offering from experimental Dublin six-piece Fat Pablo. Fat Pablo emerged in early 2019, instantly carving themselves a new musical niche in a busy Irish scene with the releases of ‘Shambala’ and ‘Darts’.
Now with ‘Ganki’, the band return with a mesmeric new offering that merges mazy textures with abrupt urgency. The track begins with lead singer Dave Barrett’s vocals locking into a low slung bass groove. The track then moves effortlessly through different soundscapes managing to recall the woozy psychedelia of Unknown Mortal Orchestra and the adventurous song structures of Grizzly Bear.
On their return and the writing process behind the track, Fat Pablo say:
“Ganki took a good while for us to write, we went back to the drawing board a few times with this one as it was tough to merge the urgency at the beginning of the song with the mellowness of the latter half. We think we’ve found a nice balance where you get the best of both worlds. We try not to act as a one trick pony, but rather an acre of unicorns.”
‘Ganki’ is an intriguing return from a band that have forged a sound which takes some acts years to realize. The track is a startling piece of songwriting which is sure to grab attention.
