THE FARM share video for new single ‘Let The Music (Take Control)’

THE FARM has released Let The Music (Take Control), the second single from the band in a series of new releases, following the success of Feel The Love, which was added to the playlist at BBC Radio 2.

“Let The Music (Take Control)” is a vibrant mix of electronic sounds inspired by Kraftwerk and brought to life by dynamic guitar riffs. A live performance and a chance meeting with the legendary guitarist, composer and producer Nile Rodgers influenced the song.

The band’s lead guitarist, Keith Mullin, and singer and lyricist Peter Hooton had been to see Rodgers in Liverpool a few years ago. During the gig, Peter envisioned Rodgers as a prophet, standing on a podium leading a mass movement of people with the slogan “Let The Music – Take Control”, and the masses were captivated, not by any political slogan but by the music, rhythm and melody.

“The idea came from politicians using meaningless phrases like ‘take back control’,” remembers Peter, “but I thought it should be ‘let the music take control’ because music is universal and can inspire, unite and change attitudes way more than politicians.”

Coincidentally, before the gig, Keith had run into Rodgers, and the pair had talked about their mutual love for the Fender Stratocaster. Known affectionately as the ‘hitmaker’ by Rodgers, Keith wrote the riffs for The Farm hits “Groovy Train” and “All Together” Now on a Strat, just as he has for the new single “Let The Music (Take Control).”
