SHED SEVEN release new single ‘F.K.H.’ from upcoming album ‘A Matter of Time’

Shed Seven

The fan reaction to Shed Seven’s upcoming album, A Matter of Time, was so strong that the band immediately decided to start 2024 with a bang and release it a week earlier than initially announced – that date now being January 5th.

Ticket sales for their October 2023 UK tour were similarly overwhelming, with London, Nottingham, Manchester and Glasgow gigs all selling out in just five minutes, and other shows soon followed, either selling out or running low on tickets. The band also headlined a sold-out 6,000-capacity show in Millenium Square, Leeds, where recent single ‘Kissing California’ received as rapturous a reception as the band’s catalogue of hits.

Keeping that momentum at fever pitch, Shed Seven today share the brand new single ‘F:K:H’. It’s a song that takes you on a journey, evolving from jangly acoustics to heftier guitars and an instantly memorable classic Shed Seven hook. And then the second half of the song goes somewhere else entirely, its rock‘n’roll hedonism taking in soaring gospel vocal harmonies, dance-tinged beats and one of the most attention-grabbing solos that guitarist Paul Banks has ever recorded.

Rick Witter says, “‘F:K:H’ was born at a Shed Seven soundcheck in 2022. Paul started playing around with the riff and I started messing around with some lyrics from an early Sheds track and spun those lyrics on their head – if we can rip any band off, it’s allowed if it’s us!

The song then took on a life of its own. We wanted to write something reminiscent of The Rolling Stones in their pomp. All swagger and attitude, and Paul’s guitar work is amazing. There is also a nod to my late father, who, when we went out drinking, would announce after a long night, ‘Let’s have another one, then we can all go home.’ It’s another Shed Seven anthem where the music grabs you, lifts you up by the lapels, and takes you somewhere else.”

‘F:K:H’ is released alongside a new video which is dominated by Rick’s charismatic performance, as well as a hallucinatory Madchester-tinged remix from Jagz Kooner (Primal Scream, Massive Attack, The Aloof). Check out the video for ‘F:K:H’ – BELOW:

Both ‘F:K:H’ and ‘Kissing California’ demonstrate that ‘A Matter of Time’ will reward fans who have waited for a new Shed Seven album since 2017’s Top 10 ‘Instant Pleasures’ achieved their highest chart position in almost twenty years. It was produced by the Grammy Award-winning Youth (The Verve, Pink Floyd) at El Mirador Studios in Andalucia, Spain, before being completed with mixing from Cenzo Townshend (Florence + The Machine, Inhaler). Founder members Rick Witter, Paul Banks and Tom Gladwin are joined by new recruits in the shape of drummer Rob ‘Maxi’ Maxfield (Audioweb) and keyboardist Tim Wills (Ian Brown), while Peter Doherty (The Libertines), Rowetta (Happy Mondays) and Laura McClure (Reverend & The Makers) all contribute guest appearances.
