She Drew The Gun has today shared her brand-new single ‘Nothing Lasts’ via Submarine Cat Records. ‘Nothing Lasts’ opens with icy synths and then leads into sparse beats before opening up into a brilliant, emotional pop single.
Addressing the transient nature of things, endings and pain, heartbreak and loss, it also looks to new beginnings and optimism. She Drew The Gun, aka Louisa Roach, talks about the track –
“It’s a break up song that started life as a poem I wrote straight into my morning pages, so as close to that part when you first wake up and all your conscious thoughts haven’t properly kicked in yet. It’s about letting things go, endings, the pain of loss but that this too shall pass. It couldn’t be more different to Howl, it’s the other side of She Drew The Gun, that doesn’t get seen so often but it’s a chapter I’ve been in. I felt like I was channelling Roy Orbison a bit when I was writing it but then we did the demo and it went more pop with synths and strings, and even more so in the studio.”
