ROLLA are firmly established as prime contenders to rise to the forefront of the rock ‘n’ roll scene. Their aptly-titled debut EP ‘Nothing Less Than Everything’catapulted to #1 on iTunes’ Album and Alternative charts, with many fans drawing upbeat comparisons with iconic indie titans such as The Verve and Oasis. Their April headline tour inspired similarly euphoric scenes and culminated with their biggest headline show to date with a sold-out homecoming gig at Manchester’s Gorilla.

And as summer hits, things are again heating up for ROLLA too. Today the band share their brand new single ‘When Life’s Thunder Striking’ along with an accompanying video. It comes as they promise to deliver “fucking outrageous” sets at Y NOT?, where they follow the likes of Red Rum Club in headlining the This Feeling stage, and then at the This Feeling By The Sea weekender on a bill which featured The Lathums, Lottery Winners and many more.

‘When Life’s Thunder Striking’ is a statement of intent that ROLLA are destined for bigger things to come. It’s a towering, string-soaked anthemic epic which demonstrates that the quintet are just as adept at crafting emotive slowburners as they are at rabble-rousing rock ‘n’ roll. It’s sure to come alive at upcoming live shows, a unifying singalong, phones-in-the-air moment that offers something different from the rest of the set. The track was produced by Nick Brine (Oasis, Stone Roses) with mixing courtesy of Gareth Nuttall (The Lottery Winners, The K’s).

The ‘When Life’s Thunder Striking’ video is effectively a three-minute highlight reel of ROLLA’s year to date. It takes in sessions at the fabled Rockfield Studios, incendiary scenes as they pack Gorilla from wall-to-wall, and the kind of youthful hijinks that come when a band are on the cusp of achieving something special. But let’s not mention guitarist Tom Paddon’s (?) complete inability to swig from a bottle of champagne…

ROLLA commented, “‘When Life’s Thunder Striking’ is our most personal song we have written to date. It’s definitely still got the ROLLA sound, but expands on it and shines a light on the softer, more intimate side of us as a band. We hope it will introduce us to new fans, and we have more similar songs to come so we’re excited to see where it takes us. As for the video, we wanted to capture that more personal side of us like we have done with the song, and also to illustrate the kind of community and fanbase we are creating. We want to thank our fans for the ongoing support and for helping to get ROLLA to the masses. Here’s to the future!”
