Outblinker have released their pulsating new single Techno Viking. Written on a recording session with Benjamin Power (Blanck Mass/ Fuck Buttons) in the Orkney Islands, Techno Viking builds upon the krautrock sound that has become synonymous with the band.
Incorporating the melodrama created by John Carpenter with the explorative, atmospheric sounds produced by Beak>, and integrating the percussive tussles of groups like Vessels with the energised post-punk of Wire’s later years, Techno Viking is a more Outblinker’s most nuanced and dynamic sound yet, embracing poppy melodic hooks as well as a hint of malice.
Oublinker first came to prominence through the release of their propulsive debut EP The Remains Of Walter Peck in 2016 gaining support from the likes of SPIN, NME, Clash Magazine, The Skinny, The Line of Best Fit and many more. Having seen their plans for a European tour come crashing down in the wake of the Corona Virus pandemic, Outblinker resolved to keep a positive mindset, making the best of difficult circumstances and remaining as productive as ever, even if they can’t be in their preferred domain, on-stage.
