FIDLAR share cover of Beastie Boys' 'Sabotage' - Listen

Recorded recently in honour of the fourth anniversary of the passing of Beastie Boys founding member Adam ‘MCA’ Yauch, LA quartet FIDLAR covered the group’s iconic ‘Sabotage’. Bristling with energy, the band’s take on it has become a staple of recent live shows: an incendiary call-to-arms opening FIDLAR’s sets – notably provoking a raucous reaction at a sold-out London show at Brixton’s Electric – and a vital reminder of the influence held over so much of modern music by the NYC group.

Speaking of the cover, FIDLAR frontman Zac Carper says: “I grew up listening to the Beasties ever since I was a kid. They infused all different styles of music to make it their own. I grew up in a very small town and Beasties were kind of like escapism. They totally changed my life and made me want to start playing music. I just moved into a new space and I figured the best way to break it in was to record a cover of one of my favourite songs I listened to growing up. It is the BEST song to play live.”

For those yet to see ‘Sabotage’ in the live setting, FIDLAR recently announced an autumn headlining tour of the US with support from SWMRS and The Frights. The band’s “Too Much Tour” will kick off on October 28 in San Diego, CA and wrap on November 22 in Denver, CO. Having produced the 2016 debuts of both support bands, Carper says, “After spending so much time with these guys in the studio, I can’t wait to bring them out on the road. They’re like our little brothers. We’ve got FIDLAR from LA, SWMRS from Oakland, and The Frights from San Diego. We’re dragging the whole damn state of California across the US for this one!” T

FIDLAR’s autumn US tour is preceded by a handful of performances at various summer festivals in the US including Bonnaroo, Mo Pop Festival, and Lollapalooza. Following on from a handful of UK and European dates so far this summer, the band continue to tour the continent in August with appearances at Norway’s Oya Festival, Sweden’s Way Out West and France’s La Route Du Rock, among various other headline dates and festival slots. A complete list of upcoming FIDLAR tour dates can be found HERE.

Since forming in 2009, FIDLAR quickly became one of the Los Angeles music scene’s most celebrated live acts thanks to their raucous live shows, which often concluded with the majority of audience members joining the band on-stage. Since formation, the band has toured the world and played with The Pixies, The Hives, Black Lips, OFF!, Jeff The Brotherhood, The Orwells, Wavves, The Delta Spirit and more. Their debut self-titled full-length album was released in the U.S. in January of 2013 and debuted at #5 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart, #2 on the Alternative News Artist Chart and was the #1 most added release at CMJ. Rolling Stone immediately called FIDLAR “a band to watch”, asserting, “FIDLAR redefines the ‘Golden State’ skate/garage punk aesthetic for contemporary tastes” and called Too “an excellent second LP.” Too, meanwhile, rocketed to #1 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart and saw the band reach the Top 50 in the UK Albums Chart, cementing the promise FIDLAR have always held.
