TRACK OF THE DAY: THE RIPTIDE MOVEMENT - 'You & I'

It’s been an incredible 2015 so far for The Riptide Movement who represented national broadcaster RTE at Eurosonic in January and then secured nominations at The Meteor Choice Music Prize awards in Dublin – Ireland’s answer to The Mercury Music Prize – for Song of the Year for their Top 10 Irish smash ‘All Works Out’ (which was recently featured on Channel 4’s ‘Sunday Brunch’) and Album of the Year for their number one, Irish gold-selling album ‘Getting Through’. Their performance on the night was one of the most-talked about highlights of the TV show that went out live across the nation.

There’s no doubt that music courses through the soul of Ireland, and the new single ‘You And I’ is an anthem to love dripping with rabble-rousing rock ‘n’ roll. With stomping rhythms and huge choruses, it’s no surprise they’ve progressed from feted sons of Ireland to musicians on the global stage.

The video was shot in New York at the end of 2014 while the band were also playing a run of US live dates where they were greeted as the Emerald Isle’s newest heroes.

Their critically acclaimed debut UK album, ‘Getting Through’ will be released on June 1st. Produced by Flogging Molly’s Ted Hutt (who has also worked with Dropkick Murphys and The Gaslight Anthem), the album is testimony to the unique sound the band have forged together during many hours spent together in rehearsal and on stage.
