THE CORONAS Return with new single ‘Strive’ - Listen Now

The Coronas are back with a brand-new single ‘Strive’. Filled with melody, groove, synths and saxophone solos, Strive is an indie-pop song with a distinct eighties feel. It was written during the first Irish lockdown (thanks to that unfortunately named virus!), and lyrically it hints at being there for someone no matter what difficulties surround the relationship: ‘I always want you to strive, it’s just a messed-up time,’ exclaims lead singer Danny in the chorus.

The band spent a few weeks this year holed up in Eastcote Studios in London’s Kensal Rise, recording their forthcoming album with producer George Murphy (The Specials, Ellie Goulding, Mumford and Sons) and mixing with Grammy-winning mixer Peter Katis.

Danny explains, “We’ve worked with George before, so it was just really comfortable. It was probably one of the best recording experiences we’ve ever had as a band. I think after the two years of the pandemic, it felt so good to be back in the studio, locked away from the world and just being a band again. It’s such an exciting time for us now, with an album we’re so proud of coming out in the autumn, some huge shows and festivals coming this summer, and then the world tour starting at the end of September.”

Listen to ‘Strive’ – BELOW:

One of those summer gigs is at Trinity College Dublin Summer Series on 1st July. A huge outdoor gig, this is one that The Coronas are especially eager for. “Our Trinity show will be our biggest show of the year,” says Danny. “We are so excited to play so close to home, we can all literally walk home after the show! We can’t wait to try out a couple of the new songs but also we just can’t wait for that feeling of a big outdoor summer hometown show where people sing their hearts out with us. It’s our favourite part of what we do and its been too long since we’ve all gotten to do it. It’s gonna be emotional!”

Voted Best Live Act at this year’s Hot Press Magazine Readers Poll, the band said, “We feel blessed to able to continue to do what we love most, to sing our hearts out together with the people who continue to support us”.

Tour dates are piling up in the band’s diary with gigs in Germany, the UK, and all over Ireland already for sale. As always tickets are going fast, so fans of the band are recommended to get online ASAP to avoid disappointment. And in the interim put ‘Strive’ on repeat, so you can sing your heart out with Danny and the boys when you see them.
