The highly anticipated Eras tour kicked off in grand style as Taylor Swift lit up the City of Light with an electrifying display of music and theatrical performances at the La Defense Arena in Paris.
The global music superstar launched the first of four planned concerts in the French capital, showcasing her rhythmic voice, dazzling costumes, symphonic dancing crew, incredible visual and special effects and best of all, performing songs from her 11th studio album.
Swiftties were treated to nostalgic renditions of infectious melody, from songs that cut across her 18-year illustrious career.
The show was kick-started with Swift performing two songs from her 2019 “Lover” album “Miss Americana and the “Heartbreak Prince”. Swift displayed her fashion A game with an adorned red blazer which she rocked while performing her 2019 hit “Ths Man” as dancers joined in the performance to mesmerize the crowd with theatrical dancing displays.
The 14-time Grammy winner also rendered her first life performance of her new album, “The Tortured Poet Department” and thrilled fans with seven songs from her 31 playlist album including “But Daddy I Love Him”, “So High School”, “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?”, “Down Bad”, “Fortnight” “The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived”, and “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart”.
In a show that spanned over three hours, the 34-year-old delivered a mesmerising 46 songs segmented into different ’eras’ dedicated to each of her 11 studio albums. The show finally ended with an enthralling performance of her hit single, Karma from her 2022 Midnight album.
The concert at La Défense Arena was Swift’s first live show since the release of her new album and over 40,00 fans were thrilled with the harmonious sounds from her guitar when she performed “All Too Well”.
Some tweaks were made to the setlist with “Red” moving up the initial schedule while two of her 2020 albums “Folklore” and “Evermore” were combined. In a shake-up to her 46 songs playlist, some fan favourite songs like The Archer, The, Long Live Tolerate It, The Last Great American Dynasty and Tis The Damn Season were ousted from the set list.
Other songs added to the set list include Paris from the Midnight album and LOML from the newly released Tortured Poets Department album.
With the European leg of the Eras Tour kicking off in grandeur, Swifties will be in high spirits to fill up the remaining three shows at 40,000 capacity La Défense Arena– the largest indoor performance center in Europe.

Her new album, ‘The Tortured Poet Department’ has shattered numerous records since its release on April 19. The album has dominated streaming platforms globally to place her as the biggest pop artist of the century.
The Tortured Poet Department also broke the record of her Grammy-winning album ‘Midnights’, to occupy the top 14 spots on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in the first week of its release.
The TTPD also placed Swift as the most-streamed artist a day after her album became Spotify’s most-streamed album in a day with over 300 million daily streams on Spotify.
According to data by Luminate, as reported by Billboard, Swift’s album achieved a historic debut, recording a record-breaking 2.6 million equivalent album units in its first week of release in the US. These units do not just include CDs, vinyl and cassettes, but they cut across digital metrics such as downloads and streams.
The Eras tour set the record for the highest-grossing tour of all time after hitting the $1bn mark– surpassing Elton John’s $939 million Multiyear Farewell Tour. And music industry analysts at Pollstar have predicted the album could achieve $2bn before it gets rounded up in Vancouver.
The TTPD album became Swift’s 14th album to peak at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, tying Jay-Z for the most chart-toppers among solo artists.
More impressively, all her 14 studio albums from the 2008 Fearless album, down to her 2012 released album Red as well as the 2022 Grammy-winning Midnights album and the record-shattering TTPD album and a host of others, have all debuted at No 1 at the Billboard 200.
