The tour began on February 1, 2023, in Tampa, Florida, marking their first joint tour since 2017. The tour is planned to conclude on July 3, 2025, in Milan.

Due to health issues affecting both Springsteen and band members, 24 tour dates were delayed and pushed to 2024. Additionally, four shows in May and June 2024 were rescheduled because of Springsteen’s vocal strain.

The multi-award-winning band recently concluded the European leg of their tour which started at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales on May 5 2024 and toured different countries including Northern Ireland, Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Norway, before concluding with a show-stopping concert on July 27th in London, England at Wembley Stadium.

Grossing projections

Hailed by Rolling Stone as “the embodiment of rock & roll,”  Springsteen has sold over 140 million records worldwide, including more than 70 million in the United States, making him one of the top-selling artists globally. He is widely celebrated as an unparalleled live performer.

The 74-year-old has officially reached billionaire status, with Forbes estimating his net worth at $1.1 billion. The last few years have been particularly profitable for the iconic musician. In December 2021, Springsteen sold his masters and publishing rights to Sony Music in a deal that reportedly brought in around $500 million.

Since February of the previous year, Springsteen has been touring extensively, and despite some backlash over ticket prices and a few postponed shows, Bruce Springsteen tickets have generated $380 million in revenue, according to Variety. Additionally, Springsteen recently made his debut on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, featuring on Zach Bryan’s track “Sandpaper.”

What to expect

The 2023 tour was distinctive as  Springsteen toured without promoting a specific album. While the main set featured tracks from his last two albums, 2020’s “Letter To You” and 2022’s “Only The Strong Survive”, neither was heavily represented, with only a few songs from each played regularly.

Additionally, this tour marked the first time since 1988 that Springsteen and the E Street Band had a largely consistent setlist. Throughout their career, especially in recent decades, the band has been known for their unpredictable and varied setlists.

The 2023 US tour faced numerous cancellations and delays due to COVID outbreaks and band illnesses. After rescheduling some dates and taking time to recover,  Springsteen is now doing better. The 2024 performances have seen a significant shift, with longer shows and more varied sets. Springsteen is departing from the setlist more often, making spontaneous changes, and playing location-specific songs like “Viva Las Vegas” in Las Vegas and “Youngstown” in Ohio. It’s evident that Springsteen is revitalized and enjoying this new phase of his tour.

Hungry Heart after-parties

Hungry Heart, a club night dedicated to  Springsteen, is hosted by two passionate fans. It has been organised across different concert centres particularly in Europe. These events are known for their lively atmosphere and are a great way to continue the post-show excitement.

Show day

Springsteen rarely has an opening act, and his shows typically start on time or even a few minutes early. Arrive promptly to avoid missing any part of the performance. Springsteen’s concerts are known for their length, often spanning three to four hours without breaks, so it’s essential to eat before arriving and manage your drink intake to avoid frequent trips to the restroom.

Comfortable shoes are a must, as you’ll be standing for an extended period. While many fans queue outside the venue, a significant number will be socializing in nearby pubs and bars. Pre-show gatherings are frequently organized through online communities like the Facebook group Spring-Nuts, so check for any meetups before heading to the venue.

Listening back

Since 2014,  Springsteen has made soundboard recordings of nearly all E Street Band shows available through live.springsteen.net. These recordings can be streamed or downloaded in various formats and are also sold on CD. Typically, the recordings are accessible within a week of the performance and feature cover art based on photographs from the show.
