XS Noize Video Exclusive: Thrice – The Window – Watch

On October 8th, Thrice closed out the final leg of their 2016 tour in front of a sold-out crowd in Los Angeles at The Novo. Even though many of these fans had seen them just a few months earlier at The Shrine Expo Hall, there was a palpable sense of homecoming for the Orange County band. Thrice fans have remained loyal through constant evolutions in sound since 1998, many growing up with the band and others definitely too young to remember their MTV breakthrough.

I’ve been a huge fan of Thrice since the moment I first heard the ominous riff that opens All That’s Left in 2003. Try as I might, I never got to see them live; shows sold out as soon as they were announced and tickets, bought by dedicated fans, never wound up on the secondary market. My heart sank when they announced their hiatus in 2012. Now I’ll never see them live, I thought.

Fortunately, Thrice returned this year with a new album and new tour dates. To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere contains The Window, the single most affecting and hardest rocking song since the first one that made me fall in love with them.

This video, shot from backstage and onstage at The Novo, is my best attempt at communicating how it feels to finally see one of my favorite bands after 13 years of anticipation.
