VIDEO PREMIERE: Phildel Returns with Ethereal New Single ‘Wild As Sin’

Phildel

Breathtakingly unique and hypnotic in her musicality, Phildel unveils her ethereal new track ‘Wild As Sin,’ out Friday 2nd May, following her UK tour announcement for September 2025.

This fascinating artist has never confined herself to one genre, collaborating with dance and electronic musicians while releasing music under her own name with flashes of folk, neoclassical, and alt-pop. It’s a style which has proved its success many times over, with the music of Phildel earning her a staggering 302 million streams so far. Her new single ‘Wild As Sin’ continues in this thread with its expansive soundscapes, dramatic lyricism and intense delivery, arriving ahead of her UK headline tour in September which is now on sale.

Phildel: ‘I wrote “Wild as Sin” about the tumultuousness of love. The wild impulsivity of the first meetings, the journey of love as it unfolds, the forgiveness and redemption, the resilience needed to keep getting back up after taking the bullet of separation, the severance and grieving involved in the cycle of loving another person.

The song hinges on the image of both people shooting one another in order to be able to move on. Love is brutal at times, but it also offers us the opportunity to deepen our understanding of one another and ourselves – and to learn the tools of forgiveness, compassion and inner-strength.’

Phildel on the new video: “I chose a church for the music video, because religion navigates the idea of wrong-doing, forgiveness and redemption so eloquently. And those themes come up in the song. There’s a lot of blood, sacrifice and renewal in the stories of religion, and those things also play out in life and love. I feel like the architecture of the classic church, with its lofty dimensions, show humans reaching for something nearing the extent of their full potential – motivated by their faith in a higher power. And I’ve always found that fascinating and inspiring. In the same way that God motivates some of our most extraordinary, visionary architecture, love in parallel is a higher power that also reveals our potential to do things that can be tremendously hard: to forgive or to draw the line and walk away…”

Upon releasing music under her name for the first time, the story of Phildel Ng was one of the stranger stories in the music world – a young girl who’d grown up in a household where music was banned, her burgeoning interest confined to stolen moments at the practice room piano and a single dance music CD stashed in her desk at school. She lived for the bulk of her childhood under the rule of an abusive, strict religious stepfather, from whom she only escaped in a separation that lost her the rest of her family too.

From the experience came her 2013 album, The Disappearance of the Girl, a dark, breathtakingly intimate suite of songs exploring the gothic fantasies that sustained her through an unhappy time. Though written in a vacuum, Phildel’s intense piano and electronica music quickly spread to millions, soundtracking ads for Apple, Verizon and LG. She won first place in The International Songwriting Competition with her song ‘Moonsea’, picked up a Cannes Lion Trophy for ‘Beside You’ and has +95 million streams alone for her track ‘Qi’ (with 302 million streams in total).

Fast forward to 2025 and Phildel has just been featured in “Women Composers Piano Anthology” by Faber Music Publishing, a landmark collection described as an essential compendium of women composers through the centuries and further establishing the importance of her timeless musical contributions. Her most recent album Into the Woods is an alluring vision of dream pop, inspired by her unique relationship with the natural sublime, gaining over 3 million streams.
