TRACK OF THE DAY: PROSE – ‘Run With Faith’

Manchester based storytellers PROSE have premiered their new video ‘Run With Faith’. The video was directed by exciting young director João Retora (Loyle Carner, Oscar) and is a raw and gritty coming of age piece focused on a group of 17/18 year olds during a transitional period in their lives in a small town in the UK. “I like the use of mixed formats for the right concept and ‘Run with Faith’ is a piece about youth and football lads so it made perfect sense to mirror it with a grittier look,” says director João Retora. “Sometimes younger people do things they don’t really want to do for the sake of their mates and being part of the group. They run with faith.”

PROSE released their debut EP ‘What If’ in October. Defying the very idea of genre definition, PROSE take the best of what has come before them in their city of Manchester and have created an exceptional four-track EP of infectious and inventive hookworms indebted to their hometown. The EP has been steadily building buzz and was added to Spotify New Music Fridays (1m followers) and entered the UK Viral Top 50 at #31.

The song ‘Run With Faith’ is a modern-day parable of a down-on-his-luck bluesman who gets saved by the simplest of lessons – that kindness and honesty pay off. Inspired by a true story of a homeless man from Manchester who returned a wallet without pocketing the cash, the story led to coverage in the local press which sparked a pay-it-forward campaign that got the man off the streets. The grit-and-optimism moral of the story plays right into the beating heart of PROSE’s prose.
