The Smile have revealed their new single “Bodies Laughing” today, taken from the band’s new album Cutouts, released this Friday, 4 October, via XL Recordings.

“Bodies Laughing” follows recent tracks “Foreign Spies,” “Zero Sum,” “Don’t Get Me Started,” and “The Slip,” the latter two of which were released as a limited edition 2-track 12-inch single at record shops globally.

The band will release a brand-new, Weirdcore-directed video for “Instant Psalm” on 4 October, in line with the album’s release. The video is available here from noon BST on Friday, October 4th. The Smile is also previewing new material this week with a series of ‘Through The Glass’ events in NYC and London. The Smile – Thom Yorke, Jonny Greenwood and Tom Skinner – debuted several songs from Cutouts during The Smile’s UK tour in March. Cutouts features 10 new tracks and was produced by Sam Petts-Davies. It’s the band’s third studio album following Wall of Eyes, released in January, and the trio’s 2022 debut album A Light For Attracting Attention.

Cutouts was recorded in Oxford and at Abbey Road Studios during the same period of time as Wall Of Eyes. The album features string arrangements by the London Contemporary Orchestra and the album art was painted during the recording process by Stanley Donwood and Thom Yorke.
