Saint Leonard has released his new single ‘Wit’s End’. Its early, heavy blocks of metallic sound give way to a musical daring and inventive offering that is constantly surprising and fascinating, blending programmed sounds with jolts of guitar and flute interludes. It’s a shifting, a darkly deceptive record that comes with Saint Leonard’s transcendent lyrics.
‘Wit’s End’ follows the release of previous track ‘The Red Book’, co-written with Brian Eno. An epic, monumental track, it was a perfectly paced, pulsing and atmospheric single that moved Saint Leonard to the next level and has been supported by BBC Radio 1.
It followed his ‘Full Moon’ series of singles, including ‘Tell Me The Truth’, ‘Go Give Me Strength’, and ‘Bells & Ecstasy’, released in late 2023. These tracks highlighted his distinctive artistry and fearless approach to music, a vision that has led him to share sages with Patti Smith, Father John Misty, and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds.
Saint Leonard’s rich and varied career includes recording the acclaimed album ‘Good Luck Everybody’ at Stanley Kubrick’s historic home, which earned glowing reviews from the likes of NME, Loud & Quiet, Clash, Q, Uncut, and The New Cue. The album also garnered heavy support from BBC 6 Music, cementing his reputation as a bold and visionary artist.
More recently, Saint Leonard has headlined sold-out shows at iconic venues like The Windmill and Third Man Records in London, while supporting The Libertines on their UK tour. His forthcoming album, ‘The Golden Hour’, has been shaped by transformative recording sessions at the legendary Hansa Studios in Berlin and Paul Epworth’s Church Studios in London, collaborating with members of Fat White Family.
‘The Golden Hour’ is a deeply personal and ambitious record inspired by journeys through India, encounters with spiritual leaders, and nights of sartorial, amphetamine-fuelled abandon in Berlin hotel rooms. The album recounts a kaleidoscopic array of experiences—from wrestling with Californian cults in a Shiva temple in India to performing readings of his novel to Berlin’s avant-garde art scene. It was during one such evening that he met members of Fat White Family, sparking a collaboration that would shape his new album.
Saint Leonard is heading to Germany next week to support The Libertines, the dates are below –
5th Feb – Berlin, Columbiahalle
6th Feb – Wiesbaden, Halle Schlachthof
8th Feb – Munich, Tonhalle – Kultfabrik
