ON THE TURNTABLE: The Comet is Coming – Hyper-Dimensional Expansion Beam

Short, sharp and frank reviews from a confessed vinyl junkie. I’ll post my most loved records and recent purchases here for your perusal weekly.

If you’re looking for an easy ride, you won’t get it here much like the two albums before; this is Space Jazz on steroids. Album three from the London trio lies somewhere between an early 90s Rave, the Bladerunner soundtrack and a heaped spoonful of Sun Ra.

We’re taken on a Psychedelic, tripped-out journey right from the off, which seems to build into limitless crescendos throughout. It’s a real assault on the senses but in the best possible way. As before, musicianship is second to none, and you find yourself getting lost in their universe all over again.

I was lucky enough to see these guys on their last tour, and to say they blew me away would be a huge understatement. If you don’t know, then get to know, but if you’re already a fan, you won’t need me to tell you that this is another spectacular release from a spectacular band; go and buy it.
