ON THE TURNTABLE: Luke Una presents – É Soul Cultura: Una Dos 2

Short, sharp and frank reviews from a confessed vinyl junkie. I’ll post my most loved records and recent purchases here weekly.

Now then, sorry it’s been a while since my last ‘On The Turntable’ but I’ve had a busy time of late. That said, I had to give kudos to Luke Una, who has yet again hit the nail on the head with another sublime compilation of late night Soul, Disco, House, Jazz, Funk, Balearic business and much more that doesn’t have a hole to be ‘pigeon-ed’.

The second instalment of his É Soul Cultura project kicks off with a few classics/not classics from Real Thing and Avis, and from therein, we’re taken on another magical tour-de-force of the Mancunian/Yorkshireman’s incredible record collection. It has it all, AGAIN. This is music to ponder about your house to, chill with mates until the early hours with or to stick in your ears whilst you’re pounding the pavements; in short, it’s for EVERYTHING and EVERYONE, ALL OF THE TIME.

If I were pushed, I’d have to choose the absolutely gorgeous ‘In Essense’ by Isis as my standout track, but there really isn’t a duff one on it. It’s all glorious; hat tipped yet again, Mr Una.
