Nottingham’s The Level was bursting at the seams on August 11th as Grammy-winning indie-rock darlings Wet Leg brought their Moisturizer tour to town — and they didn’t just play a gig, they turned it into a euphoric communal event.
Before the lights had even dimmed, the crowd’s anticipation was palpable. Then, in a flash of bright stage light, Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers bounded out, joined by Joshua Mobaraki and the rest of the band. The reception was thunderous — a tidal wave of cheers that set the tone for the night.

After the opener, Teasdale grinned and thanked the audience for embracing Moisturizer so warmly. From there, it was all high-voltage energy. Teasdale and Mobaraki shared sly smiles mid-song, while Chambers joined her for playful dance moves between riffs. It was the kind of natural chemistry that makes you feel like you’re watching friends having the time of their lives — only those friends just happen to be ripping through one of the most in-demand indie sets of the year.

When the unmistakable bassline of “Chaise Longue” kicked in, the room erupted. Fans roared every word so loudly that Teasdale’s vocals became almost an echo against the crowd’s collective voice. The sing-along spilled straight into “Mangetout,” keeping the volume at fever pitch.

Even after the final note rang out, Nottingham wasn’t ready to let go. The crowd lingered, chanting for an encore that sadly never came. But if the ecstatic reception was anything to go by, Wet Leg will be back — and next time, The Level might struggle to contain them. This was a night where Nottingham sang its heart out.
