Indie rock trio, Klangstof, opened up the show with some sweetly soothing synth-infused songs that were just right for setting the mood on this mellow summer night. For their first Austin show, these Amsterdam-natives really knew how to get their American fans moving. This up-and-coming band mesmerized the crowd with songs from their debut album, Close Eyes to Exit. Before passing the stage to the headlining band, Klangstof closed out their set with a play of their hypnotic hit song, “Island.” This flourishing alternative group is definitely one to keep an eye out for on their world-tour with Miike Snow.

Following Klangstof’s soothing performance, Miike Snow took to the stage and raised the energy in this packed-full venue. This Swedish indie pop group played just the right blend of songs from all three of their full-length albums. Each song of their set flowed smoothly to the next, which included plays of fan favorites as “Song for No One,” “Genghis Khan,” and “My Trigger.”

Most notably, Miike Snow amazed the crowd with an extraordinary extended play of “Silvia” from their debut LP, Miike Snow. Accompanied by a vibrant light show, engaged fans from the front to the very back of the venue sang and grooved along to this heartening, melancholy number. For their encore, the band closed out the show with a crowd-pleasing play of “Animal,” which inspired friends and strangers alike to dance together joyfully to this pop beat. What better way is there to kick off a new week than a dance party with new friends?
