Fast-rising Irish band Gurriers stormed the stage at Belfast’s Limelight last night, opening their set to Frankie Valli’s Can’t Take My Eyes Off You. As the unmistakable chorus rang out, the room erupted into a full-throated chant of “I love you baby”, a moment of shared euphoria that set the tone before the band had even struck their first chord.
Without hesitation, Gurriers launched into new track “Erasure”, immediately asserting their authority. Thunderous basslines rattled the floor, while staunch, commanding vocals drove the verses forward, before noise-drenched, experimental guitars tore through the chorus. It was an explosive opening statement — confrontational, immersive, and impossible to ignore.

From the outset, the band owned the stage with a confidence and intensity that left no room for passivity. What followed was relentless: crowd-surfing bodies, swirling mosh pits, and a constant surge of movement that never let up. The Limelight responded in kind as Gurriers powered through fan favourites “No More Photos”, “Des Goblin”, and “Come and See”, each track landing with ferocious precision and maximum impact.

Their post-punk, noise-rock assault had the venue visibly shaking, the air thick with distortion and sweat. Not a single person stood still as the band’s raw power and unfiltered aggression translated effortlessly in a live setting, transforming the Limelight into a heaving mass of sound and motion.
After a performance like this, it’s abundantly clear why Gurriers are making such serious waves across the Irish music scene right now — and why their ascent shows absolutely no sign of slowing.
