Nu-metal’s early architects include Linkin Park, a band renowned for blending hip-hop, heavy metal, alternative rock, and occasional funk elements into a distinctive alternative metal subgenre.

Influential groups like Pantera, Korn, and thrash metal legends Anthrax significantly contributed to the development of this sound. Combining melodic ballads with powerful riffs and rap, Linkin Park forged a vibrant, aggressive style that rose to prominence during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Before locking in their signature tone, the group explored numerous musical directions. The addition of Chester Bennington proved crucial, as his remarkable talent to effortlessly switch between rhythmic vocals and fierce screams filled a vital gap. This impressive vocal versatility amplified Mike Shinoda’s rapping and the band’s instrumentation, generating a dynamic energy that powered numerous hits.

Linkin Park’s impact on contemporary rock and nu-metal remains unquestionable. Since their groundbreaking debut, they have established themselves as one of the most adaptable rock ensembles of the 21st century, celebrated for their strong fan engagement and inventive musical style.

On 5th September 2024, the band revealed plans for a forthcoming album and accompanying tour, unveiling Emily Armstrong from Dead Sara as their new co-lead vocalist. This development ushers in an exciting era, blending respect for their heritage with fresh, creative directions.

Following long anticipation, the legendary group announced dates for their highly awaited comeback with the “From Zero World Tour,” marking their first live performances in seven years.

This “From Zero World Tour” represents Linkin Park’s first significant tour in seven years, notably without the late Chester Bennington.

“From Zero” album

On 15th November 2024, Linkin Park unveiled their eighth studio effort, “From Zero,” marking their first release since 2017’s “One More Light.” This album pays tribute to their enduring legacy while inviting listeners to embrace the band’s evolving sound despite the absence of their late frontman, Chester Bennington, who passed away in 2017.

The sound of “From Zero” merges their iconic nu-metal foundation with contemporary elements, prominently featuring Armstrong’s powerful vocal delivery.

The album comprises 11 tracks and notable singles such as “The Emptiness Machine,” “Heavy Is the Crown,” “Cut the Bridge,” “Two-Faced,” and “IGYEIH.” Notably, “Heavy Is the Crown” appeared on the soundtrack for the second season of Arcane.

“From Zero” enjoyed considerable commercial success upon release, becoming Linkin Park’s first chart-topping album on the UK Albums Chart since 2012’s “Living Things.” It also earned gold status in Germany and reached the summit of Australia’s ARIA Albums Chart. In the United States, the album debuted at number two with over 97,000 copies sold, just behind Ateez’s “Golden Hour Part 2,” which moved 184,000 units.

“From Zero World Tour”

In 2024, Linkin Park returned remarkably, reuniting seven years after Chester Bennington’s tragic passing. On September 5, 2024, the band revealed new members, co-vocalist Emily Armstrong and drummer Colin Brittain, alongside news of their highly awaited album, “From Zero,” released on November 15, 2024. The album’s lead single, “The Emptiness Machine,” quickly became the most significant rock hit of 2024, topping both the Billboard Mainstream Rock and Alternative Airplay charts. Its follow-up single, “Heavy Is the Crown,” became the official anthem for the 2024 League of Legends World Championship.

The “From Zero World Tour,” Linkin Park’s first major tour in seven years, was announced with the album and kicked off on September 11, 2024, at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California. The tour will conclude on November 15, 2025, in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Due to massive demand, over 50 extra dates were added across North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America, including stadium performances in Paris, Dallas, São Paulo, and Tokyo. In 2024, shows in Los Angeles, Brooklyn, London, and Seoul sold out, attracting over 100,000 attendees across six shows. The Los Angeles and Brooklyn concerts sold out within minutes, with most presale tickets reserved for Linkin Park Underground members.

Special guests like Queens of the Stone Age, Spiritbox, AFI, and PVRIS supported the band on select dates, adding variety to the lineup. Their 2024 performance at The O2 Arena was hailed as a “triumphant return,” with Mike Shinoda and Emily Armstrong reflecting on their challenges. Another standout moment was the November 15, 2024, São Paulo show, live-streamed to over 500,000 online viewers for the first six songs.

The 2024 portion of the “From Zero World Tour” grossed around \$15 million, selling over 100,000 tickets across six arena shows. The 2025 leg, featuring over 50 dates, is projected to earn over \$100 million, driven by sold-out stadiums like Wembley. Tickets in Europe, including five German shows, sold out in minutes, with the UK and Germany alone accounting for 200,000 tickets. North American presales for 2025 also broke records, with Ticketmaster noting historic sales for venues like Austin’s Moody Center and Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

Possible setlist

Songs expected on the setlist include “The Catalyst,” which the band regards as their version of “Paranoid Android.” This intricate, multi-layered track was thoughtfully released as a lead single and powerfully impacted the airwaves. Also featured is “Faint,” a concise 2:43 burst of intense rock that became a defining anthem of the 2000s, alongside “In the End,” the iconic eighth track from their debut album, “Hybrid Theory” (2000).

At their Los Angeles shows, after an intro blending elements of “Castle of Glass” and “The Requiem,” the band opened with “The Emptiness Machine,” the lead single from “From Zero.” Emily Armstrong, the new co-vocalist, made her stage debut halfway through the song, performing alongside Mike Shinoda as the other lead vocalist for the first time.

The setlist mixed Linkin Park’s biggest hits like “In the End,” “Numb,” and “Crawling” with fan favourites such as “Lying From You” and “Waiting for the End.” The band also gave “Lost,” a rediscovered single from the “Meteora” 20th anniversary edition, its live debut, with Armstrong leading a piano version of the track that reached the top 40.

Other potential setlist additions include “Castle of Glass,” “Overflow,” “Heaven Is the Crown,” “The Emptiness Machine,” “Lying From You,” and “Crawling,” which would create a dynamic and emotionally charged experience for concertgoers.
