Kilkenny-born artist Kathy Long continues to carve out her own lane with music that blurs genre boundaries and leans heavily into emotional honesty. Her songwriting sits in a space where lyrical intimacy meets expansive, atmospheric production — reflective without ever feeling inward-looking.

Long has been steadily building momentum across Ireland and the UK, with singles “West” and “Glow Gold” receiving strong radio support and coverage from outlets including Hot Press, District Magazine and RTÉ. Alongside this, she has been performing across Europe and appearing at major festivals such as Electric Picnic.

Now based in Bergen, Norway, Long is entering a new creative chapter, collaborating with Norwegian musicians and producers on forthcoming material. That sense of transition and exploration is reflected in her debut EP Element, released on 17 October. The project draws inspiration from the four classical elements — fire, air, earth and water — using them as emotional and sonic touchstones rather than literal concepts.

Element was launched with a special EP release show at Bergen’s Apollon Platebar on 16 October, ahead of a run of live dates closing out the year.

Speaking about “Glow Gold,” Long describes the track as a meditation on love, grief, nostalgia and hope — and on learning to listen to your inner voice. The accompanying video expands on those themes through a dream-like visual narrative, imagining what it might feel like to come face to face with your younger self.
