Sacha Arnaud, AKA sacha, first made a name for himself touring and working with other bands and artists, but now he’s striking out on his own with the release of his debut EP ‘Change Of Heart.’ While currently on tour with Rachel Sermanni, he took a few minutes out of his hectic schedule to talk about his artistic evolution, his favourite song on the EP and his goals for the coming year.
You’ve been a part of the music and artistic industries for a while now, having worked and toured with various bands and artists in the Berlin and Paris scenes. So, how would you say you’ve grown and developed as both a person and an artist over the years, culminating in who and where you are now in your life?
Working with all these different people has offered me ways to develop that are essential for who I am today. It has shown me what I lacked, what I wanted, and what I didn’t want from collaborating. It all helps to find a balance, but I would say I’m still on the path!
Tell me about your new single, “Broken Love.” Where did the idea for the song come from?
I wrote this song three and a half years ago while in my previous relationship. I wrote about seeing my partner shielding up with superficiality and repressing emotions. I wasn’t able to see how similar we were with this. Later, it was clear that I wrote this song about myself.
The track is the first release from your EP ‘Change of Heart.’ How would you sum it up?
Completing my previous answer, this song is about looking deep inside yourself and your heart and trying to believe that what is there is enough for you to find freedom.
Not including “Broken Love”, which of the other three songs on the EP would you say you’re most proud of and why?
“This Home I Built” is the song I’m most proud of, and that’s because of the lyrics. It was the first time I involved other people in the writing process, and I love how it turned out. We took my original lyrics, cut them up into separate sentences, mixed them up, and made new arrangements. That sparked new inspiration for me to finish writing the song.
What do you hope those who listen to the EP take from it? Is there a particular message you want to get across through the collection?
I hope it will help soothe their worries and connect with their softness.
You’re supporting Rachel Sermanni on her EU tour this month. What can people expect from you performance-wise when they come to a show?
Yes, this is amazing; I’m having a lot of fun. They can expect unreleased material, for sure, but I try to bring as much authenticity as I can when singing my songs.

If you could play any venue in the world and have any one band or artist, living or dead, open for you, where and who would you choose?
Mmmmh, I don’t know…I don’t have this one place I’d love to perform in. Maybe the Royal Albert Hall? Or the Red Rocks Theater? I wouldn’t want any of my idols to open for me the other way around, though!
What are your thoughts on social media, given how technologically connected the world and the music industry are today?
Oh man, social media is a weird one. For the most part, I think it’s really shitty and dangerous for how we interact as human beings and for our own mental health. But I think it is quite incredible as creatives to be able to reach out to practically anyone through these networks. That helped me connect with artists I look up to. I guess if you find your own healthy balance with it it’s fine, but it is difficult.
Regarding the music industry…I think we’re in the worst economic place we’ve ever been. It also feels like artistry is drowning in a sea of “content”. We’re pushed to create more, constantly, to grab people’s attention in a few seconds. I’ve seen too many artists aim for financial success and invest their energy in what they’re told to think is “gonna work” rather than speaking their truth, whether it’s major signed or entirely independent artists. It’s very sad.
Finally, 2024 has been an exciting and productive year for you, with the EP release. So, where do you go from here? What are your goals for 2025 and beyond?
More music! I’ve been writing a lot over the past year, and I am having a great time finishing many songs…Touring more is a goal; this is where it gets very real. Getting more in touch with myself and keeping on the path is what I want to do.
