Glen Hansard unveils live performance of ‘My Little Ruin’ ahead of new album release

Glen Hansard has today shared the live performance video for ‘My Little Ruin’, the latest track to be taken from his forthcoming album, Don+t Settle – Transmissions East, which is out on Plateau / Secretly Distribution on 24th April.

Recorded over two nights in April 2025 in front of a dedicated audience at Berlin’s historic Funkhaus – an expansive former East German radio facility– in many ways the album encapsulates multiple things at once: a career retrospective opus, a ‘Best Of’ collection, a live record, and a new studio record.

Talking about ‘My Little Ruin’, the video for which was shot during the live recordings in Berlin, Glen said:

I wrote ‘My Little Ruin’ for a close friend who was going through a precarious self-destruct period. Someone who is blessed with the greatest of gifts, and who just couldn’t see how they were letting folks walk all over them. It was a sort of intervention song. A friend who will risk being honest might save you years of slow figuring it out by yourself. Gotta tread lightly though.

Sharing the  video for ‘Didn’t He Ramble’ on album announcement, Glen will be intermittently dropping further live performance videos from the album recordings in the run up to release via his socials – the latest of which, ‘Down On Our Knees’ appeared earlier this month.

The 10-track album is an expansive collection featuring live reinterpretations of some of his most loved and cherished songs from across his solo career, as well as his work as the frontman of The Frames and half of the Oscar winning duo The Swell Season.

The album is the first release in a two-volume set with the 2nd, Transmissions West (Vol. 2), appearing later this year. Both volumes feature no vocal overdubs, second takes, autotune, or editing–brilliantly showcasing the breadth of Hansard’s talents and songwriting.

In all, Don+t Settle – Transmissions East & West feels like an important demarcation point in an already storied career, with Hansard looking backwards within his creative path while he moves forward–‘transmissions’ both from his past and to his future.

The track listing of the Vol. 1 is as follows:

Don’t Settle

Down On Our Knees

Back Broke

My Little Ruin

Didn’t He Ramble
