Grammy Award-winning alternative rock band Imagine Dragons have graced the ears of music lovers globally over the past decade with their signature guitar-heavy sound and colossal beats.
Since their rise to fame, they have become one of the most successful bands of the 2010s, known for blending rock, pop, and electro sounds with uplifting lyrics that resonate globally. Their music has become ingrained in popular culture, featured in television commercials, sporting events, and more, solidifying their widespread influence.
Having sold over 75 million records worldwide, Imagine Dragons have also earned a place among the most-streamed artists of all time.
Since their debut album “Night Visions” in 2012, Imagine Dragons has become one of the world’s top-selling artists, with 74 million albums sold and 10 Top 40 singles. All five of their studio albums have made it to the Top 10 of the Billboard 200, with “Smoke + Mirrors” (2015) hitting the No. 1 spot. Following a series of independently released EPs, the band gained mainstream success with “Night Visions” and the diamond-certified single “Radioactive,” which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and set a record by staying on the chart for 87 weeks.

Loom World Tour
The “Loom World Tour” is the ongoing fifth concert tour by Imagine Dragons, promoting their sixth studio album, “Loom.” The tour launched on July 30, 2024, at the Freedom Mortgage Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey, and is set to wrap up on July 26, 2025, at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, England.
Officially announced on April 22, 2024, alongside the album release details, the band revealed the first round of tour dates the next day, starting with Camden. On April 24, 2024, they added three new dates—Salt Lake City, Toronto, and Los Angeles—due to high demand.
The band will continue their North American stadium performances from May to July 2025, marking their largest headline tour in the region. In Europe, they’ll head to France and fans can buy Imagine Dragons Paris tickets now ahead of the show in July.
The band will be performing some fan-favourite songs from their albums. In previous articles, we explored some of the hit tracks that could feature in the award-winning band’s setlists during their tour.
Now, let’s dive into some of their biggest-selling albums and their commercial performances.
Night Visions
Though it’s common for a band to have high hopes for their early work, the success of Imagine Dragons’ debut album, “Night Visions,” far surpassed their expectations. Released on September 4, 2012, the album skyrocketed to No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Its breakout hit, “Radioactive,” became a multi-million seller, propelling the band to superstardom.
While the statistics are impressive, they only tell part of the story. “Night Visions'” unexpected success was not guaranteed. Before this, the Las Vegas-based band had worked hard to attract attention after releasing their self-titled debut EP independently in September 2009. A long period of performing in any venue that would host them followed, including spots like Mandalay Bay and Caesars Palace—though these appearances were more about building their name than basking in luxury.
The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 in the United States, selling over 83,000 copies in its first week. It also reached the top of the Billboard Alternative Albums and Rock Albums charts. It remained in the top ten of the Billboard 200 in 2012, 2013, and 2014, consistently topping the Alternative Albums chart during those years, and as of February 25, 2015, had not dropped off the chart.
In the United Kingdom, it debuted at number two, narrowly losing the top spot to Justin Timberlake’s “The 20/20 Experience.” By December 2, 2024, the album had earned an 8× Platinum certification from the RIAA, marking 8 million units sold in the US alone.
In 2013, it was the fourth best-selling album in the US, with over 1.4 million copies sold that year. By February 2015, it had sold 2.5 million copies in the US and achieved double Platinum status. In Canada, it was the third best-seller, with 179,000 copies sold.
Evolve
The title of Imagine Dragons’ third album, “Evolve,” reflects their growth. After their breakout debut “Night Visions” (2012) and the success of “Smoke + Mirrors” (2015), they knew further evolution was necessary. Following a ten-month world tour where Imagine Dragons tickets sold-out for every event, the band took a break in early 2016 to recharge.
“Evolve” debuted with the best single-week equivalent-unit sum for a rock act in 2017, surpassing Gorillaz’s “Humanz.” In pure album sales, it ranked third, behind John Mayer’s “The Search for Everything” and “Humanz.”
Imagine Dragons had four songs in the top 10 of the Hot Rock Songs chart, with “Evolve”‘s lead single “Believer” dominating for 17 weeks. “Thunder” reached No. 2, “Whatever It Takes” climbed to No. 5, and “Walking the Wire” fell to No. 9. “Believer” also surged to No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first rock song in the top 10 since Twenty-One Pilots’ “Heathens.”
“Believer” topped the Rock Airplay chart for 14 weeks, with 13.7 million audience impressions. It also led Alternative Songs for 13 weeks, a feat previously achieved by “Radioactive” in 2013. The song peaked at No. 12 on Pop Songs and No. 2 on Adult Pop Songs, matching the success of “Radioactive” and “Demons.” As of December 2024, “Evolve” has been certified 4× Platinum by the RIAA.
Origins
After a six-month break, Imagine Dragons returned with their creative energy revitalized, producing their third album, “Evolve,” which earned a Grammy nomination and produced three major international hits. This recharged phase led to the creation of “Origins,” which the band worked on during their year-long tour in support of “Evolve,” starting in September 2017.
“Origins” was crafted by the band, along with producers like Alex da Kid, Mattman & Robin, John Hill, Joel Little, Tim Randolph, Jayson DeZuzio, and Jorgen Odegard. Frontman Dan Reynolds described it as a “sister album” to “Evolve,” completing a musical cycle.
The album debuted at number two on the US Billboard 200, with 91,000 album-equivalent units (61,000 of which were pure sales), marking their fourth top-two album and third to debut at number two. As of August 31, 2021, “Origins” was certified Platinum by the RIAA for 1 million units sold in the US.
Smoke + Mirrors
“Smoke + Mirrors” marked a bold evolution for Imagine Dragons, showcasing their aim to craft radio-ready, yet diverse music. Tracks like the anthemic “Gold,” the uplifting “I Bet My Life,” and the infectious “Shots” blended soaring, U2-like rock with electro-pop influences. The band also displayed their versatility with the folk-rock flair of “Trouble,” the Middle Eastern-inspired “Friction,” and the heartfelt piano ballad “Dream,” where frontman Dan Reynolds delivered a show-stopping vocal performance. Overall, “Smoke + Mirrors” solidified Imagine Dragons’ position as a band ready for a lasting impact in the music world.
Loom
Imagine Dragons dropped their sixth studio album, “Loom,” on June 28, 2024. The nine-track album departs from the two-part structure of their previous album, “Mercury—Act 1 & 2” (2021-2022), and signifies a fresh start for the band. “Loom” stands out as a vibrant, melodic work that pushes the band’s sound into new directions while staying true to their anthemic style.
The album is notable for being their first release without drummer Daniel Platzman, who left the band indefinitely in March 2023 and officially announced his departure in August 2024. This marks a significant shift in the band’s lineup after over a decade of musical collaboration.
The album cover art features an image of a sunset or sunrise, with two silhouetted figures standing in front, creating an ambiguous scene that ties into the album’s themes of change and new beginnings. Frontman Dan Reynolds explained that the ambiguity—whether it’s a sunset or a sunrise—captures the essence of the album, prompting listeners to consider if it’s the start of something new or the end of something old. He compared the image to the constant feeling of duality present in life.
The album includes nine tracks, with “Eyes Closed” being the standout single that delves into the complexities of vulnerability and human connection. Other notable tracks include the upbeat “Take Me to the Beach,” the opening song “Wake Up” and “Nice to Meet You,” showcasing the band’s continued musical evolution.
