EIREWAVE Expands Coverage to Newry, Armagh, and Down on DAB+

Eirewave

Eirewave, the Northern Ireland pop and rock radio station, is thrilled to announce the expansion of its broadcasting reach with the launch of a new small-scale DAB service across Newry, Armagh, and Down. This significant milestone aligns with Eirewave’s ongoing strategy to enhance its presence throughout Northern Ireland, following successful expansions in Belfast, Lisburn, Derry, and Strabane.

Starting tomorrow, 15 July 2024, listeners from Belfast to Newry and beyond will enjoy uninterrupted Eirewave broadcasts, thanks to a network of 10 transmitters providing exceptional coverage. This development allows more listeners to tune into Eirewave on DAB+, further solidifying our commitment to bringing quality rock and pop music to a wider audience.

UlsterMUX facilitates the launch, which covers areas such as Dromore, Banbridge, and Newry and extends to the border at Dundalk. The extensive network also includes Castlewellan, Kilkeel, Warrenpoint, Crossmaglen, and Forkhill, making it the largest small-scale DAB network in operation across the UK to date.

Olivier Mauxion

Olivier Mauxion, owner of Eirewave, expressed his excitement: “I would like to extend a special thanks to John Gartlan, CTO of UlsterMUX, for his exceptional work. His dedication to delivering high-quality audio and his openness to our requests for metadata and our quirky ideas have been invaluable. This new coverage is a pivotal step for Eirewave as we continue to grow in Northern Ireland. Our enhanced reach on DAB+ will enable more listeners to enjoy our programmes without interruption. We are committed to engaging with all the multiplexes that will open in Northern Ireland in the future.”

This expansion represents a significant leap forward for Eirewave, providing robust and reliable access to a broad array of music and programming. As we continue to grow, our focus remains on delivering top-notch content and engaging experiences to our loyal audience.
