“Spain is amazing, Madrid is exceptional!”
These words were uttered by Dua Lipa during her last visit to Madrid, where she performed at the Mad Cool Festival in July this year. Undoubtedly, she sent fans into a musical frenzy, with their excitement expressed through dancing, singing, and cheers.
This is only the tip of the iceberg of what is to come when the London-born artist makes her next return to Madrid as part of her 2025 “Radical Optimism Tour.”
Ahead of the concert, Xsnoize brings you up to speed with everything you need to know for Dua Lipa’s “Radical Optimism Tour” — from her album overview, her shows in 2024, where she’s played so far as part of the tour, where she’s due to play, how to get tickets and a comprehensive setlist.
“RADICAL OPTIMISM” ALBUM
In March 2024, Lipa excited fans by revealing the title of her eagerly awaited third album, “Radical Optimism,” which was released on May 3, 2024. The album includes popular tracks like “Houdini,” “Training Season,” and “Illusion,” and marks her first full-length release since “Future Nostalgia” in 2020, which she toured in 2022. Before the album’s release, singles “Houdini,” “Training Season,” and “Illusion” each reached the UK Singles Chart’s top ten.
In the UK, “Radical Optimism” debuted at number one on the Albums Chart, achieving the highest opening week for a British female artist in three years. This success will be followed by the “Radical Optimism Tour,” set to start in November 2024.
Lipa explained that “Radical Optimism” reflects the idea of “navigating chaos with grace and trusting in your ability to overcome any obstacle.” Through this album, she brings new perspectives on life, relationships, and the single experience.
GROSSING RECORDS
The “We’re Good” singer topped the charts in her debut week with impressive first-week sales of 46,298 units, including 13,388 CDs, 16,772 vinyl records, 4,779 cassettes, 1,414 digital downloads, and 9,945 streaming-equivalent units. “Radical Optimism” not only led the official vinyl chart but also earned the title of the highest vinyl seller for the week.
The album quickly reached No. 1 in 11 countries, including the UK, where it set the record for the biggest album debut of 2024 by a UK artist and posted the highest first-week sales for a British female artist since 2021. In the US, “Radical Optimism” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart and claimed the No. 2 position on the Billboard 200, marking Dua Lipa’s best-ever sales week.
With its initial numbers, “Radical Optimism” scored the year’s second-highest sales, only behind Taylor Swift’s “The Tortured Poet Department.” It also boasts the highest debut for a British female artist since Adele’s “30,” which opened with 261,856 units in November 2021.
DUA LIPA’S 2024 SHOWS SO FAR
Dua Lipa thrilled fans with a special performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Oct. 17, where she was accompanied by a 53-piece orchestra, 14 choristers, and special guest Sir Elton John, who joined her for a rendition of their 2021 hit, “Cold Heart.” Fans who couldn’t attend can now enjoy the concert from home. The show, titled “An Evening with Dua Lipa,” will feature some of her biggest hits and is set to premiere on Dec. 15, produced by Fulwell 73 Productions and Radical22.
At her Royal Albert Hall concert, Dua Lipa presented her 2024 album “Radical Optimism” in its entirety, with fresh arrangements by The Heritage Orchestra under Ben Foster’s direction.
The show marked the live debut of tracks like “End of an Era” and “French Exit,” alongside singles “Houdini” and “Training Season.” She also performed her Barbie soundtrack hit, “Dance the Night,” live for the first time.
Currently, Dua is in Asia for her “Radical Optimism” tour and will move on to Europe next year, where she’s scheduled to perform in cities like Madrid.
“RADICAL OPTIMISM TOUR” CONCERTS SO FAR — SINGAPORE
As British-Albanian singer Dua Lipa stepped onto the Singapore Indoor Stadium stage on Nov 5 to launch her “Radical Optimism” Tour, the words “training season’s over” illuminated the screen—lyrics from “Training Season,” the opening track of her 2024 album “Radical Optimism.” For the 29-year-old, these words seemed to embody a mantra she carried throughout the 105-minute performance, showing her drive and resilience with every song.
Lipa’s summer was packed with festival headlining slots—including Glastonbury in June—and solo shows like her acclaimed orchestral performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall in October. Yet, there was no hint of fatigue as she energized the crowd, dancing and singing through 21 tracks spanning her three studio albums, “Dua Lipa” (2017), “Future Nostalgia” (2020), and “Radical Optimism” (2024). Each song featured a built-in pause, allowing Dua Lipa and her team to transition smoothly into another powerful dance routine. Lipa’s signature deep vocals remained steady throughout, never missing a beat.
As the show entered its final stretch, the entire audience was on their feet, enthusiastically singing and dancing along to her biggest hits like “Physical,” “Dance The Night” from the “Barbie” (2023) soundtrack, and “Don’t Start Now.”
Just hours after learning her third album “Radical Optimism” received no Grammy nominations, Dua Lipa announced the cancellation of her Jakarta performance due to “safety issues with the staging.” The show was set for the 16,500-seat Indonesia Arena. Lipa’s next stop on her “Radical Optimism Tour” is the Philippine Arena on November 13, followed by back-to-back performances at Japan’s Saitama Super Arena on the 16th and 17th.
Other shows are scheduled to be held in Thailand, Malaysia, and Taiwan before rounding off the 2024 leg of the tour at the Gocheok Sky Dome in South Korea. Dua Lipa’s debut performance in South Korea took place at the 2017 Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival. She followed that with her first solo concert in 2018, where she performed for 2,000 people, marking this year’s show as her first return in six years.
MADRID TOUR
After opening the New Year with concerts in Australia and New Zealand from March to April 2025, Dua Lipa will kick start the European leg of her “Radical Optimism Tour” with a two-day concert at WiZink Center in Madrid. The show is scheduled to start on 11th May and end on the 12th of the same month in what will be her second return to the Spanish capital in less than a year.
The “Boys Will Be Boys” crooner previously headlined Madrid’s Mad Cool Festival in July, and her performances had fans yearning for more.
She’s likely to kick off her performance with one of her high-energy hits like “Don’t Start Now” or “Physical,” instantly setting the crowd into a frenzy.
Her powerful presence and electrifying dance moves will have the audience on their feet from the moment she steps on stage. Beyond the music, fans will be treated to an awe-inspiring spectacle, complete with dazzling light effects, cutting-edge technology, and immersive stage design that bring Lipa’s vision of “Radical Optimism” to life in captivating detail.
The 29-year-olds attention to every detail in her stage performances ensures that her shows, including the one in Madrid, will be nothing short of spectacular. Fans can expect an unforgettable night, with a perfect blend of music, breathtaking visuals, and the essence of “Radical Optimism” that has defined her recent tours.
Madrid is sure to experience a performance that will be remembered for years to come, filled with energy and awe-inspiring moments.
In her last visit to Spain four months ago, the three-time Grammy Award winner revealed her admiration for the country and the City of Madrid.
“I am very happy and grateful, I feel very lucky and blessed to perform in Madrid,” she said in Spanish. “The people in Spain have so much light and love,” she continued and then switched to English. “Spain is amazing, Madrid is exceptional, I truly love you,” she said emotionally.
Throughout the concert, she proved that energy can indeed be contagious, as fans were dancing non-stop to her performances. Fans in Madrid are now gearing up for an even more energetic experience when the superstar returns to the Spanish capital in May 2025.
