COLDPLAY tour in Munich: list of banned items for fans in Germany

Coldplay will be heading to Germany in August for the “Music of the Spheres World Tour” starting from the 16th of June down to the 18th.

The iconic band are set to kick off the European leg of their tour in June in Athens, Greece which then cuts across other European countries including, Romania, Hungary, France, and Italy before heading to Munich for a thrilling concert at the Olympiastadion. Coldplay Munich tickets are expected to be in high demand due to their popularity in Germany.

However, this will not be Coldplay’s only tour date in Germany as the British band will also be at the Merkur Spiel-arena on 21st July in Dusseldorf.

After a three-day concert, they will then head to Finland to perform at the Olympiastadion from July 27th to July 31st July. The band will then make another return to Germany to perform in Munich before rounding off the European leg of their tour in Austria and Ireland.

Having racked up over $500 million, the seven-time Grammy award winners recently made Billboard Boxscore history, by joining Rolling Stones in becoming just the second artist to achieve a half-billion double-up in the top 10 of the all-time highest-grossing tours.

After amassing up $100.5 million at the first 13 concerts of the “Music of the Spheres World Tour” in 2022, the Tour has leapt up to No. 1 of the highest-grossing tour by a musical band or group. A report from Pollstar reveals that the “Sphere Tour” is quietly climbing to the $1 billion mark in global concerts.

The Chris Martin-led band are tipped to join Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour to officially become the second tour in history to reach $1 billion in revenues.

The British band also reached $524 million in their record-breaking A Head Full of Dreams tour in 2016-17, as well as nearing the $1 billion mark for the Music of the Spheres Tour,  the musical quartet consisting of Martin, Johnny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion are just the second artistes to have two Tours among the Billboard top 10 highest-grossing tours of all time after the Rolling Stones.

The album also became Coldplay’s seventh studio album to top the Billboard 200. Some of their albums that has stood at the apex of Billboard’s 200 include Mylo Xyloto released in 2001, X&Y released in 2005, Viva la Vida released in 2007,  Ghost Stories released in 2004 all debuting at the number one spot.

 A background on Coldplay and their achievements prior to The Music of The Spheres World Tour:

 Before highlighting the do’s and don’ts for the upcoming concert in Munich, it’s pertinent to have foreknowledge about the successes and achievement of the British band before and after the record-breaking Music of the Spheres album.

The music quartet met whilst at University College, London and initially started with the name Pectoralz before adopting Coldplay in 1997.

After the success of their first album ‘Parachutes’, Coldplay embarked on their first-ever tour in June 2000. The album included successful hits like ‘Yellow’ which marked their first ever Top 5 single. Parachutes received wide acclaim which earned them the 2001 Brit Award for Best British Group and Best British Album. They went on to win their first of seven Grammy awards for Best Alternative Music Album.

In 2008, Coldplay released the Viva La Vida album which became the world’s best-selling album in 2008.

Other notable acts include performing at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Paralympic Games and contributing to the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire with ‘Atlas.

Fast forward to 2022, Coldplay kick-started the Music of the Spheres Tour in Costa Rica where they embarked on sustainable means to reserve emissions by introducing electricity-generating bikes and kinetic dance floors.

While the achievements and awards have taken much of the headlines, one thing Coldplay has been able to infuse since the beginning of the Music of The Spheres Tour is imbibing an artiste-fan relationship.

Fans will be thrilled to listen to another performance of the “One Word” single where over 120,000 Coldplay fans across 204 countries and states lent their voices to sing “Ahhhhh”– a recording that will feature in the song during its release later in May.

In a bid to continue their Green Earth movement, some items have been prohibited from the venues of the concerts and below is a list of the top ten items fans should not come with during the concert in Munich:

ANIMALS

Animals are not permitted within the vicinity of the  Olympiastadion when the Music of the Spheres begins in Munich. We apologize that your pet will need to remain at home for the duration of this concert. This policy is initiated to secure the well-being and safety of your pet who could be reactionary over the screams and loud music during the concert.

To avoid any potential risk or discomfort for all animals, it is advisable that all pets are left at home.

FOOD

While Coldplay doesn’t mind if you bring your food to the Olympiastadion, it’s pertinent to note that there are vendors on the ground offering a variety of food. Hence, it’ll be preferable to carry extra cash to eat to your satisfaction rather than carrying a heavy load.

Instead of carrying a heavy load, consider bringing extra cash to enjoy a meal or snack from one of our vendors. Additionally, please be aware that there are size restrictions on bags allowed into the venue for security reasons. Therefore, it’s advisable not to bring your food to the concert venue as it might get confiscated by security personnel at the entrance.

SOUND SYSTEMS

Fans at the Munich concert should refrain from coming with personal sound systems for the concert. The large speakers at the venue are designated to provide a standard sound experience, hence sound systems are prohibited

UMBRELLAS

While Coldplay understands the possibility of rainfall, please note that large umbrellas are prohibited. Hence, if you’re willing to come with an umbrella to the venue, ensure its small enough to not instruct the view of fans around.

FLAGS WITH POLES

 Flags with poles are prohibited from Coldplay’s Munich tour. While you can come with signs, please ensure it’s not obstructing the views of others at the show.

SMOKE BOMBS

The use of smoke bombs during the concert is banned and will be confiscated if found.

FIREWORKS

Coldplay‘s “Music of the Spheres” Tour already features a stunning fireworks display. Hence, fans are asked to refrain from bringing fireworks as they will be confiscated by security personnel. Rather than bringing fireworks and flares, sit back and enjoy some of the most beautiful and enhanced pyrotechnics orchestrated by Coldplay during the show.

Other prohibited items include:

Helmets, lasers or laser pens, sharp objects made from metal or wood, alcohol, power banks, lighters or match sticks, cigarettes, electronic cigarettes or vapes, drones.

In conclusion, fans who adhere to these instructions are expected to pass through the routine check without any problems.
