Coldplay Expands Music of The Sphere’s Tour in Asia ahead of United Kingdom return in 2025

With Rave reviews, picking up accolades, unprecedented ticket sales, and perfect harmony, Coldplay’s 2024 “Music of the Spheres” tour across European stadiums has been a huge success.

The Times referred to it as “The Greatest Live Music Show Ever.”  The British rock band announced that they have added more dates to their extensive two-and-a-half-year concerts due to the sellout success of their Music Spheres World Tour in the summer of 2024. Coldplay is set to deliver iconic performances that will captivate audiences across multiple dates in Asia and the United Kingdom.

Coldplay, formed in London in 1996, consisting of frontman Chris Martin, guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman and drummer Will Champion.

The four-man band has has become one of the most popular acts in the world since being formed in 1996, releasing a list of hit songs like Yellow, Something Just Like This, Clocks, Paradise, Hymn For The Weekend, Viva La Vida, and Higher Power.

They are ranked the fifth highest music group with 95, 563, 376 monthly listeners on Spotify. Their debut album, Parachuteswas no. 1 on the United Kingdom  Albums Chart in 2000.

Tour Overview

Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres World Tour began at the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica on 18 March 2022 in support of their ninth and tenth studio albums, Music of The Spheres released in 2021 and Moon Music released this year. The Music of The Spheres World Tour has grossed $1.059 billion and sold 9.6 million tickets since the tour kicked off in March 2022, sneaking past Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour. At the end of their shows in Latin America, it was announced that the band sold 2.3 million tickets and grossed $193 million. It was tagged the biggest concert tour in the history of the continent. As part of their sustainability initiatives, the band has planted 7 million trees so far. A promise they made to support global reforestation, planting one tree for every ticket sold. All these ecological plans were made to reduce Coldplay’s carbon footprint.

Grossing records

The band was ranked among the Best Rock Performances in Rio in 2022. Billboard mentioned their inflatable sphere stages as the best special effects of the year (2022). At the 2023 Pollstar Awards, the band won the WhizBang Award, and Concert of the Year in Sweden and were nominated for Rock Tour and Major Tour of the Year. In addition, the band broke the Guinness World Record for Highest Grossing Music Tour by a Group in 2023.

Following spectacular performances and a sellout success at Perth Optus Stadium shows, the band had announced a run of Australia and New Zealand dates scheduled to kick off next week on 30 October in Melbourne, Australia. Coldplay will perform in Sydney and Auckland for the first time since 2016.

Asian Tour

On Thursday 19 September, 2024, the British band announced on their social media platforms that the band will head to Asia next year. Coldplay will be playing on 11 January at the Zayed Sports City Stadium, Abu Dhabi, followed by two shows in Mumbai and three in Hong Kong at the DY Patil Sports Stadium on 18 and 19 January and the Kai Talk Stadium on 9, 11, and 12 April respectively.

The band’s Asian outing is set to be concluded at Goyang Stadium, Seoul on 16, 18, 19, and 22 April 2025. Palestine-Chilean singer, Elyanna has been announced as a supporting act in Abu Dhabi. She has been featured on Coldplay’s recent hit track “We Pray” alongside Burnaboy, Little Simz, and Tini. You can’t miss her soulful voice in the song. The song is part of their 10th album, Moon Music which was released on October 4, 2024.

Return to the United Kingdom

In August, Coldplay will perform at Wembley Stadium after two dates in Hull at Craven Park. Initially, six dates were announced for Coldplay’s tour at Wembley in August 2025. However, a “phenomenal demand in presale” made the band add four extra dates to the shows at Wembley. The new dates are 3, 4, 7, and 8 September 2025. The band announced that 10% of the proceeds from the tour will go into their Music Venue Trust which supports Grassroots music venues and upcoming artists. Mystery guests will soon be announced. Coldplay is known to have ushered in a new era of sustainable touring worldwide. The band recently announced that their shows in Wembley will be powered by 100% renewable energy, solar panels and wind turbines at every venue.

Also, kinetic energy powered by chants, kinetic dance floors, and synchronized clapping was collected at the venue. Fans will help power the show which is something to look out for. An electric battery system is needed to rock your world in Wembley designed alongside BMW.

Fans should expect intimate acoustic moments, stunning stages, and a setlist packed with Coldplay’s biggest hits including “Yellow, “Viva La Vida” and new tracks from their Music of the Spheres album.
