After achieving two consecutive #1 hits on the Scottish Albums Chart, a breakthrough on the UK Albums Chart for 2023’s ‘Vandals’, over 50 million streams and selling over 100,000 tickets in Scotland alone last year, Callum Beattie is now ready to rise to the next tier – as demonstrated by the recent announcement that he will play his biggest headline show to date at Glasgow’s 14,000-capacity OVO Hydro on November 22nd.
Today, Callum announces that he will release his new album ‘INDI’ on 23rd January 2026, via a new deal with Cooking Vinyl. He launches the album alongside the new single ‘Two Pretenders’.
‘INDI’ captures Callum Beattie’s rawest and most personal songwriting to date. Built on themes of inner struggle, self-discovery, and the pursuit of genuine love, the record channels the freedom of true creative expression. Produced by Joe Cross (Courteeners, The LaFontaines, Louis Tomlinson), the album pairs heartfelt lyrics with unfiltered honesty, offering a deeply intimate portrait of Callum’s journey: being lost in thought, searching for clarity, and ultimately finding strength through vulnerability.
Callum says, “When love feels broken, sometimes pretending is another word for believing.”
His current spirit of reinvention extends to a sound that hits far harder than ‘Vandals’ did, with ‘INDI’ simmering with arena-scale indie-rock and passionate heartland rock. The ardent fervour of Callum’s spirited-yet-defiant voice is the emotional heartbeat of a record rich with touchpoints both contemporary and classic, drawing parallels with Sam Fender, The Killers, Bruce Springsteen, The War On Drugs and Stereophonics.
Those influences race to attention on the album’s lead single and opening track ‘Two Pretenders’ which operates as an enticing calling card for Callum’s newly upscaled future. He has stepped into the indie-rock world before, but never with such intensity, commitment and accomplishment.
He adds, “‘Two Pretenders’ is about two people on the edge of collapse, still desperately clinging to the love they once knew. It’s the sound of heartbreak meeting hope, of fighting for something that’s slipping away, but refusing to let go without a final, honest try. At its core, it’s a plea for connection in the chaos. The chorus says it all: ‘Throwing our hearts in the fire, clinging to the embers’.”
Callum’s achievements to date include selling out Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Bandstand in just 24 hours, earning long-term airplay support from Radio 2, Absolute, Kiss and Magic, and approaching 50 million career streams. Having also performed at Glastonbury, BST Hyde Park, TRNSMT and The Great Escape, tickets for his OVO Hydro spectacular are available HERE.
