XS NOIZE - Unsigned Showcase #15 - Small Victories

At XS Noize, new music is dear to our hearts and we believe that genuinely talented fresh artists deserve a platform to share their material with the world. As such, we will now be showcasing one unsigned act every week, hand picked from submissions by Tom Day for the world to hear. Great news for all you audiophiles out there, but more importantly for those who’s voices deserve to be lifted from the crowd. This week it’s the turn of Small Victories

Artist: Small Victories

For Fans Of: Foo Fighters, The Who, Kula Shaker

In Their Own Words:

Small Victories are a London based 2 piece indie-rock band formed in early 2016, consisting of Nick Thomas (Vocals / Guitar) and Andy Faulkner (Drums). Nick has been involved in a number of bands over the past 10 years, while Andy was the drummer and founding member of the IC1s, who sadly parted ways in 2015.
The band fuses an exciting blend of garage rock, psychedelia, indie and shoe-gaze, and this is evident in their debut track “Future” with it’s driving progressive rhythms and swirling guitar-led drones. The track was recorded at Fortress Studios in London and can be heard via the Small Victories Soundcloud and YouTube channels.

“Future” and its accompanying video has been the recipient of much media praise and is set to be released in July as part of Italian independent label One More Lab and UK-based tastemaker FameMagazine.co.uk’s collaborative compilation album “One More Compilation #2”. The duo have recently been back in the studio recording their second release which is due to be available later in the year through Fort Records.

Following a rapturous debut show at legendary indie club night This Feeling , they are soon to announce a string of shows which will see the introduction of Furs & Masks frontman, Louis Matthews, to complete the live line up on bass.

Why Tom chose Small Victories for the showcase:

When I first heard “Future” it had the influence of so many other acts I loved growing up that it felt instantly familiar. The bass and vocals on the track have the feeling of a lighter, more psychedelic Foo Fighters and that 60’s esque edge that reminded me of The Who (and perhaps a little Kula Shaker) and yet they are also quite unique. They have a lot of potential.
