XS NOIZE – Unsigned Showcase #11 - Albert Man

At XS Noize, new music is dear to our hearts and we believe that genuinely talented fresh artists deserve a platform to share their material with the world. As such, we will now be showcasing one unsigned act every week, hand picked from submissions by Tom Day for the world to hear. Great news for all you audiophiles out there, but more importantly for those who’s voices deserve to be lifted from the crowd.

Artist: Albert Man

For Fans Of: Ben Folds, John Legend

In Their Own Words:

I’m Albert Man, a half-German Mancunian, singer-songwriter based in London. I’ve been gigging and recording since early 2014 and am a regular on the London gig circuit. I make piano-led, melodic pop songs and have been described as the UK’s answer to Ben Folds and a modern day Elvis Costello with a bit of Jarvis Cocker and Neil Hannon thrown into the mix.

A believer in 50‘s rock and roll and 80‘s Bowie, the music reflects my love of both. My debut EP, “Slam the Brakes On“ was released in 2015 and is described as “a bit special, to say the least” according Liverpool-based blog GETINTOTHIS.

The 2015 EP was just the beginning. I’m currently working on a new self-produced album called “Cheap Suit” which is scheduled for release on 23 May 2016 and was recorded at the legendary RAK studios in St John’s Wood. Below are some links to the brand new album.

Why Tom chose Albert for the showcase:

Let’s face it, piano driven rock can be boring and I can be a little shy of it as a consequence but Albert’s mix of melodic piano and country tinged vocals just has a little je ne sais quoi. I guess it’s that that got him into a support slot for the likes of Muse without even being signed though, I’d be surprised if it takes much longer… Check out Heartbeats first, you’ll get it, I promise!
