VIDEO PREMIERE: The Veer Union - Monster

Canadian metal outfit The Veer Union introduces their music video, “Monster,” an industrial-strength cover of the pop song from Justin Bieber and Shawn Mendes.

Formed in 2004 by frontman Crispin Earl, in 2008, The Veer Union signed with Universal Records where their single, “Seasons,” made big waves on rock radio. Since then, the band has collected 100 million streams, sold more than 150,000 albums, and had eleven Top 40 Singles on Billboard’s Rock Radio Charts.

2018 saw The Veer Union release Decade II, which received 18 million streams on Spotify and featured the single, “Living Not Alive.” The following year, they dropped their first covers EP, Covers Collection Vol. 1,” featuring Halsey’s “Nightmare,” which went viral on YouTube, amassed 3.5 million streams, and hit number 25 on Billboard’s Rock Charts.

“Monster” opens on shimmering, emerging colours and then ramps up muscular layers of alt-metal. Punishing guitars, thick and chunking, ride a potent rhythm made up of Jovian drums and a pulsing bassline as Crispin’s deliciously rasping vocals imbue the lyrics with tones ranging from gentle melodicism to blistering timbres.

The performance video pulls viewers into the studio with the band, where it’s astonishing how powerful and enveloping the sound from a three-piece band can be. The Veer Union pumps out massive washes of galvanizing music.
