VIDEO PREMIERE: Sweet Megg gets festive with her rendition of “Santa Baby”

Sweet Megg

It’s December, and for many music fans, that means only one thing – it’s now acceptable to play Christmas songs at full blast. One such song many are already cranking up the volume and singing along to is Sweet Megg‘s rendition of the Eartha Kitt classic “Santa Baby”, which is the title track of her holiday album available now.

“Santa Baby” has already been covered by Madonna, Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson, and Megg has now put her spin on the track. She says of her cover: “We wanted to create something fun and vintage for the holiday. When it comes to holiday music, I’ve always preferred the earlier music from the 40s, 50s, & 60s. But I thought it would be fun to create something authentically vintage but not be constrained only to the 20s/30s.”

The video sees Megg and her band getting in the festive spirit among other partygoers, and of course, it wouldn’t be a Christmas visual without some Santas. All the artists who perform on the Santa Baby album, including saxophone player Ricky Alexander, guitarist Justin Pointdexter, pianist Jesse Gelber and drummer Chris Gelb, also feature.

“I had a blast creating this fun video with the band!”, Megg shares. “It was shot during one of the infamous jazz parties hosted by Scott Asen, Founder of Turtle Bay Records, at his home. Matt Farrell, my brother, shot and directed the whole thing, and the process went so smoothly since everyone was just being themselves! And the song is such a classic – the lyrics are timeless and have a wonderful mix of humour and reality. We also had a great time recording the song right in the same place where we shot the video.”
