MATTO RULES DELVE DEEP INTO THEIR ‘MIND CAB’ ON NEW SINGLE

Strutting new track from indie-electro band is lifted from upcoming new album Hidden Scenes. Indie-electro band Matto Rules return today with the psych-disco stomp of new single Mind Cab. The second track to be taken from their upcoming second album Hidden Scenes (following Dive at the end of last year) sees the band add Doors-esque psychedelia to their mix of mind-expanding lyrics, electronica soundscapes and indie rock guitars.

“Mind Cab stems from a dream about a car trip,” explains vocalist Lorenzo Bonati. “Driving is a powerful dream symbol with various meanings, from overcoming one’s fears to the desire of being someone else. As such, Mind Cab invites you on a ride through the different layers of your mind.”

With the name of the band inspired by Matto, the ghost of insanity in Friedrich Glauser’s pulp novel In Matto’s Realm and the new album’s central theme of exploring the subconscious, Matto Rules’ mix of highbrow concepts and pop smarts has won them acclaim and fans across Europe. After being invited to work with acclaimed LA producer Michael Patterson (Beck, BRMC, Duran Duran) their early singles established them as an exciting new band. 2016’s debut album What Comes Around (recorded with MuteMath and EmmyLou Harris producer Ben Treimer) led to sold out tour dates and radio airplay across Europe and the US – including influential stations KROQ in Los Angeles, Amazing Radio in the UK and Flux FM in Berlin. They’ve also enjoyed the support of tastemakers at Radio SRF 3 in their Swiss homeland.
