VIDEO PREMIERE: Josh Vine - “Lost in the City” - Watch Now

Singer-songwriter Josh Vine has released his debut single “Lost in the City” on April 6th through AWAL/Kobalt and made the ‘New Music’ playlist curated by ‘Spotify Asia’ as well as being made ‘Track of the Week’ on BBC Introducing in Shropshire. Today XS Noize are pleased to exclusively premiere the video.

The track was mixed by Dani Castellar (Paolo Nutini, Producer for Iron Sky), who has also worked on other tracks with Vine which will be released later this year. Inspired by the novel “Concrete Island” by JG Ballard, Vine wrote “Lost in the City” shortly after moving to London and articulates his own sense of estrangement and isolation as so often caused by big city life. The lyrics even reference the novel’s protagonist, Robert Maitland.

While Vine cites the likes of Radiohead, Ben Howard and Bon Iver as some of his early musical influences, the soundscape created on “Lost in the City” has an authentically original and haunting quality which provides the ideal support for his soaring vocal tinged with tones of blues and soul.

Of the track, Vine says; “It was the first song I wrote where I was able to convey how I felt after moving away from home, in a way that connected with me, meaningfully. It was also the catalyst in sparking the confidence in the belief that I could be alright at this songwriting thing.”

Vine has performed at numerous venues throughout London over the last year. Further performances and single releases are already planned for 2018 which looks set to be a busy year ahead for this new artist.
